mirena coil embedded in cervix

Hello :)

I had a Mirena coil inserted over a year ago now and the daily bleeding, that I thought would settle within 6 months, never stopped. I just thought I was unlucky, but a few weeks ago my GP sent me for an Ultra Sound and it showed that my Mirena coil is actually embedded in my cervix  :-\.
I'm due to have it removed tomorrow afternoon and, if brave enough, replaced.
Quite nervous about this and wondered if this had happened to anyone else and if so, if they have any tips for pain management?

That's rotten luck!

You can ask for an injection of local anaesthetic into the cervix prior to the procedure. Sometimes this is offered as standard but not always.

The IUS sitting within the cervix doesn't necessarily make removal more difficult or painful than a standard removal.

If U aren't offered a sedative don't undergo the procedure, a few weeks won't make much difference.  We should be able to undergo personal procedures in a relaxed manner.
