How long for side effects to settle?
« on: September 01, 2024, 11:25:37 AM »

Hello,

i have increased my evorel only patch from 50mcg to 75mcg. After 2 weeks i'm having headaches, heightened sensitivities to perfume smells, my head feels like its in a vice.  Will this settle? I struggle with oestrogen changes, but the 50 patch is giving my low levels of oestrogen.  Can i cut the patch in half to make 62.5mcg? No idea how i can get my optimal level?

I would experiement with the patch.  Perhaps use the 50 every night and add the 75 a few times a week with gaps?  It's a huge jump between the 2 doses and some do struggle.  R U able to cut the higher dose and add a little, mayB not all at once?

It may take a while to feel better as the body uptakes the replacement was well as your own hormones kicking in.

Thanks CLKD. ill try that.

The other idea was to use the 50 patch and add 1 pump of gel (GPs dont seem to be keen on this).  I tend to absorb the gel really well and it works with my symptoms, but the side effects are even worse than the patch- migraines and sickness due to the fluctuations

U already know that the gel doesn't suit you overall, U could put the product names into the search box - separately - to read other threads.  Make notes ;-) then let us know how you get on.

Yes it is absolutely fine to cut estradiol patches to customise your dose.

If 50mcg was too low and 75mcg too high, then adding a quarter of a 50mcg patch or 12.5mg is reasonable.

Alternatively you could just trim a little off a 75mcg patch, then you would only be wearing one. This option also probably costs less.
