Nabothian cysts on vaginal ultrasound scan
« on: August 30, 2024, 03:21:20 PM »

Hi, I posted recently to ask if others had also experienced vaginal bleeding while using Utrogestan oral capsules (100 mg) vaginally. I mentioned that my GP had requested a pelvic and intravaginal ultrasound scan which I had a week ago.

The report from the vaginal scan mentioned numerous haemorrhagic Nabothian cysts. Having Googled these I see that they’re quite common in postmenopausal women due to thinning of the skin on the cervix. Google also informed me of a differential diagnosis of adenoma malignum, a rare form of cervical cancer that can resemble Nabothian cysts  :(

I’m seeing my GP on Monday afternoon but have been anxious since reading the report on the NHS App.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar?

Thanks!

The doctors can generally tell the difference when they look. They are very common, I have clusters of them, although they don't bleed. Emphasis is on RARE for the differential diagnosis. These are fine, don't worry x
