Hi all I’m looking for reassurance…… I’ve had bloods back after 5 months of testogel and all my androgens are high! My FREE ANDROGEN INDEX (MASS SPEC):

I’m worried, had anyone had this happen? My results were fine before I started testogel!

Hard to tell as I made other regime changes so generally feel terrible!

If you have no symptoms such as acne or greasy hair my first suggestion would be to repeat the test to ensure that's genuine.

Could it have been contaminated for example by rubbing the gel into your skin at or near the site, or by having some of the gel on your hand?

Also how soon after applying the gel did you do the test? There can be a spike when it is absorbed that isn't reflective of your ongoing level.

If you genuinely do have a free androgen index of 9 then there's no need to panic but you do need to review your dose.

Ideal FAI is approx 1-5, based on untreated healthy young women.

Mine is 5, I am on dhea.

Thanks bombshell that makes me feel better, no I didn’t have those symptoms- I just tend to panic about everything! I think I applied it not long before blood test stupidly! In a completely different location that the blood test though. I’d been in it 5 months before this 1st blood test!

It is commonly advised to take a blood test for testosterone in the morning, BEFORE taking any testosterone replacement that day.

I would shower before the test too just to make sure there's nothing on your skin.

You can always reduce your dose, and there are worse things than being a ho with a mo 😉

You need to know your total testosterone and your free testosterone - it's the free which matters because that is what is available to the body. The total is all bound up with SHBG so even if it's high, it's not a problem...
