Hi, and seeking reassurance !
« on: August 19, 2024, 06:28:04 PM »

Hi all,,, I am new here .... Ive joined specifically to see if I can get a little reassurance as I am starting to get myself worried !

I am 57 and ultrasound has shown me to be post menopausal.

I have had problems with heavy periods for most of my life :(  Previously I was on the POP to keep them under control.
Then I hit perimenopause and menopause and kept flooding.... but I got through it.
However, the anxiety amongst other menopause symptoms were a bit too much at the time and I went onto cyclical HRT... which was ok.

Roll on a few years and GP swapped me to continuous HRT .  I had some bleeding which was investigated by hysteroscopy - reassured that everything was normal and persuaded to have a mirena coil fitted to stop the bleeding.
Told not to worry if I bleed for 6 months
7 + months later I was still bleeding constantly - albeit lighter than when the coil was first fitted so back to GP
Referred for ultrasound to check coil placement etc... all normal... but still bleeding.

Well,, now at 9 months since coil was fitted I have had enough .... if this constant bleeding is due to the HRT then I dont want it anymore and I stopped using the oestrogel almost 3 weeks ago .. and of course I am still bleeding

does this ever stop ?

I really want some reassurance that when you stop the HRT bleeding is normal and that it will stop ?

Ive made a GP appointment for a couple of weeks time,, so that if I am still bleeding then it will have been just over 4 weeks since I stopped any HRT
although I still have the coil in ....

I am just so fed up of it all, and getting scared it could be something really serious !

thankyou in advance for my ramblings !

U ramble away  :welcomemm:

When was your last period, can U remember?  We need to count 12 months without any bleed 2 be absolutely sure that we are in menopause.

Peri - those years when we may notice odd changes i.e. more anxiety, periods that disappear then return, as we are beginning to think that we are 'there'.  Some ladies stop.  That's it.  Mine waxed and waned for a few years  ::) until 2002.  Gone!

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.  How au fait with peri-menopause is your GP, there are options of dedicated menopause clinics, all have waiting lists; both NHS and private.

Dont think I can say when my last period was because everything was so random, and then I went onto HRT ---
