Hello - New to Spotting
« on: August 12, 2024, 12:46:00 PM »

Hello everyone,

I've had a few peri symptoms for a year or so.  Mainly a few night sweats a month and itchy skin not to mention the odd missed period.

I wasn't quite prepared for what happened in May and August!  May my period finished then a day later I had brown spotting.  I was on holiday so on goes the pad to save any embarrassing accidents.  If I remember correct I had spotting on and off but not much and always brown.  One week later another period!

June period was 'normal'.

End of July my period was due.  I'd had sore breasts for a while and never had this previously.  Sore breasts disappeared and thought my period had come but it was very light and didn't amount to much.  Then I started with pink spotting.  Was confused as to where this was my period or not.  A full week passed of brown blood on the pad and spotting then I eventually got my period a week late.  So far so good, period has finished and no brown blood or spotting.

Is this normal?  From what I read online it is but reassurance would be good when something different happens.

Yep totally normal  ::):welcomemm: to the wonderful world of confusion.

My periods were heavy, clotty, excruciatingly painful for many years.  When each stopped I would have 2 days without a discharge followed by 'old' brown blood for 24 hours.  Normal for me.  As well as itching high up  :o.  As I went into The Change periods waxed and waned: disappeared for months then returned.  perimenopause can throw up lots of different experiences.

Browse round. Make notes.  Nowt is silly or stupid to ask about, we discuss most things here.  Even menopause  ;)

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.  Let us know how you get on!

Just wanted to say that sounds very much what happened to me in the last year or so, I would alternate weeks and weeks without a period with occasional sixteen day 'perma-periods' followed by random spotting - no fun! So disconcerting, but quite normal. At one point the periods stopped altogether, I had a blood test (I know they aren't advised, but I was curious!) and it said I was firmly postmenopausal. Two months went by, and then... six more absolutely regular periods until a scanty last one. No rhyme or reason at all.

I went through a phase where I had a small amount of pink for several days before the period got going properly, I don't think you need to worry about it.
