Hi all, 52, still in peri, .075 patch & on 100mg progesterone vaginally/cyclically. Started 1mg of testosterone three weeks ago.

I'm 100% progesterone intolerant when taking it orally. My provider is great and we decided to get me good and juiced up on the right estrogen dose before giving P a go again. We're in agreement that no matter what route I take I will need to do scans. I'm fine with that.

Six weeks ago I took 100 mg vaginally for three days and was feeling good so upped it to 200mg for two days. Started feeling like I was heading downhill (I may not have been, but I am terrified of mood side effects) so I switched it back to 100mg for the rest of the cycle. Bloating, water retention, just feeling gross in general. Took nine days after stopping for the bleeding to start and I had three whopper days and then it tapered off another three days.

This time (I stopped four days ago) I took 100mg the entire time. I actually felt - quite good? I started the testosterone four days before the P and was chalking the improvement up to the T. Within a couple days of stopping the P though, I started bloating back up and have gained about four pounds of water weight. I'm crankier and complaining more. Honestly, it feels like PMS. My energy levels haven't tanked, which is good. Haven't started bleeding yet but my temp has fallen back down so I assume it's on the way.

Question - is it possible after all this time that the progesterone which has been public enemy #1 for me my entire adult life is now suddenly not a problem? Or did I just find the magic dose and delivery method? Does testosterone boost my "well being" enough to balance out the progesterone side effects? I'm really confused right now as this is NOT how I expected this P cycle to go.

Or is this just me "coming off" the progesterone? If I'm going to feel like crap off of it, then I might be interested in a continuous protocol even though I'm still peri.

Thoughts?

I can't answer your question OP as I'm at the start of HRT and it feels like a dark art!

I'm having a similar love/ hate relationship with progesterone.   I'm only just going into month 3 on HRT but in short in month 2 I struggled to tolerate 200mcg having been OK in month 1 and really missing the affect of the P when I stopped it in month 1.

I don't really get it,  I think it may be any balance so perhaps getting you oestrogen levels up has helped?
