Want your opinions ladies.
Our kitchen is 23 years old and looking  tired and worn, just like me 🥰.
Probabky my meno head but I’m finding deciding on what kitchen to go for a nightmare.  Too many choices and of course my husband and I can’t agree on anything. Has anyone purchased a new kitchen recently who is willing to share experiences?.  My first choice was ivory now I’m thinking let’s go for something different like duck egg blue which is very popular.  I just can’t decide and was quite surprised to discover they come flat pack and the kitchen fitter builds , is this normal ?
I just cannot make decisions.  Feel overwhelmed by bombastic overbearing husband plus I have 2nd cataract surgery tomorrow , just all too much !

If you like the existing layout you could leave the carcases and just replace the doors and/or worktops. If it's staying for another 23 years something classic rather trending wouldn't date it. Remember avocado bathrooms?  Flat pack is common now, my general rule of thumb is that the older something is the better made it is.

Is there a local carpenter?   In the 1980s we bought a French kitchen so the carcases are very solid.  After looking at various companies who 'did' kitchens, we had our local carpenter build new doors as well as a corner cupboard with shelfs and new handles.  The cost of the whole lot was less than replacing 1 unit by a large company!

We know him from various sports activities so trusted his work and attitude.  And he cleared up after himself ;-)

If U have a village shop they may well be able to recommend several reliable people.

Sage green is also another colour for kitchens. Myself, I wouldn’t go for the shaker style (only from a cleaning point of view).  It is very common for the kitchens to come flat packed.  I believe Wren are one of the few kitchen companies that send the kitchen units built

It depends on your budget: will U B having new taps, sink/s, plug holes, pipe work to take waste away?  Kick boards ......... handles ........ new lighting all around?

I’ve had a small Inheritance and I want to do something for me.  On saying that I’m not sure a new kitchen will fix the cracks in my life but it may make things a bit more pleasant.  Yes CLKD we are planning on a complete refurb.
Our kitchen is 23 years old and came with the house when it was built.  I spoke to the kitchen fitter this morning and said I wanted to get my cataract surgery over with first so il get back with him in 2 weeks.  Thank yo7 for the reasssurwnce re flat pack, he did explain it’s actually better as otherwise it would be difficult to deliver and the carcasses tend to get damaged. 
The way I’m feeling today ( and most days) it’s a divorce lawyer I need for a flaming kitchen !!

We’re having a new kitchen put in starting beginning of October.😱
Ours will be already built, and I went for classic white, because Sheila’s right, colours will date eventually, with a wooden work top, floor to match.
The walls will be painted, skimmed first, then I’m having splash backs where needed.
I didn’t want new tiling, I figured if I wanted a change in years to come, we could just change the splash backs, whereas, tiles, would be harder to change. 🤷🏼‍♀️
We’ve bought a new light too, so should be nice.
Don’t forget, if you have flat pack, they charge an extra bit for assembling them.
Just take your time, there’s too many options nowadays, it does blow your mind. 🤯
