Side effects from Everol Conti
« on: August 07, 2024, 11:41:27 AM »

Hi all, I am new and thank you for allowing me to be part of this  wonderful forum.

I am 53, have had menopausal symptoms since age 46 however after a long battle finally started on HRT due to significant hot flushes, joint and muscle pain and severe fatigue.

I am on Everol Conti for the last 9 months but for the last several months my hair has started to fall out in drones. I now have half a head of hair, did my reading on this and read all the fantastic information on the forum relating this.

I have 2 questions.  Will my hair stop falliing out if I continue with Everol Conti and second question, what is a better alternative?

I look forward to the feedback.

Hi Krnstrauss

Unfortunately your first post got missed but this is to give you a big: :welcomemm:

Sorry to hear about yout hair falling out. This is a complex issue and there have been discussions before. Apparently some of the HRT types containing the more androgenic progestogens ( such as norethisterone in Evorel conti) can exacerbate hair loss, although this is also a feature of menopause and declining oestrogen overall.

Perhaps - if you see this, you can tell us a bit more about where you are in menopause. Have your periods stopped completely and if so when was your last period? Or maybe you are on POP or Mirena coil and you didn't have periods?

Depending on what else if anything you are taking and where you are in menopause you could try changing to a different progestogen - so for example Provera ( tablet) , or Utrogestan ( micronised progesterone - bio-identical with our own progesterone), and you could take the progestogen cyclically to see if this helps? Both of these would need to be taken separately from oestrogen - and you could still use an Evorel patch (50 mcg) as before.

If you don't get any other responses, then maybe start another thread titles "Evorel conti and hair loss" or similar , to draw member's attention to the issue you are concerned about?
