Another GP consult
« on: August 01, 2024, 10:10:48 AM »

Morning, just had GP on the phone as I had detailed liver bloods done due to bilirubin being constantly high. Everything is normal and they are now saying I have Gilbert's syndrome.
Whilst on the call I mentioned a lump I have in my breast and he has managed to fit me in this afternoon with a female GP to get it checked.

That's good that U R being seen.  MayB take a list of worries with you?

When I found my lump I was referred from the Nurse to the GP the same day then seen by a private consultant: we had Insurance: within 4 days.  Needle biopsy taken, showed nowt.  Followed up with surgery 6 months later ......... that was int he 1990s.

Let us know how you get on - what advice have U been given about Gilbert's disease?  Which other drugs are U taking, statins showed that my blood sugars were higher than usual, without taking into account that I was taking them  >:(

I think because my mum has had breast cancer and I get the yearly mammograms from age 40 they are just being cautious. Very glad I had the phone call appt today but normally they are reluctant to discuss another problem so very happy.
I was feeling OK about it all until now, I'm starting to get nervous. I can only feel the lump when my arm is totally stretched upwards, it's a side of breast and I did wonder if maybe the wire bit was causing friction but it's not uncomfortable or painful. My last mammogram was Oct and nothing significant then.
I only take lansoprazole and gavison advanced for my reflux.
For the last month I have been on some supplements then last Fri I started oestrogel 2 pumps and 14days after next cycle I start utrogestan
Didn't say anything about Gilbert's, just that's it good to know so other people don't panic if bloods come back abnormal in future. No other advice or follow up required.

I've been through the same panic and it turned out to be a cyst, seems they're quite common. Try not to worry.

Just been to GP, she was fab and made me feel very relaxed.
She can feel some thickening in the area that I thought was a lump. Not sure what thickening is and don't think I want to google it lol.
She is going to refer me to the breast clinic, as I work in the hospital I'm hoping it's on a day I'm working as parking a nightmare there.
She did also say regardless of whether she feels anything or not she would still refer me as she says I know my boob's better than she does.

Good advice from the GP.  Could U trot along to the Dept and 'pull rank' or at least ask for a call if there is a cancellation especially on your working days.  If U don't ask etc.

Parking seems problematic in most of the Hospitals that I have visited over the last 20 years  >:(

I did that when I had my 24hr heart tape and also ct scan. I went down in uniform and asked where I was on list, got my ct scan next day and tape the following week lol. They won't open at weekends but next week I'm Tues, Thurs and Fri so may pop along and ask. Can't do any harm. I'm sure it's still meant to be 2wks gor a referral so I wouldn't be skipping the queue that much.

Medical Staff should have precedence! It never crossed my mind that I might be 'jumping a queue' especially with all the non-shows for appts and operations.  Let us know how you get on.
