Unexpected bleeding
« on: August 01, 2024, 06:34:10 AM »

Hello all
So I've been on 80mg patch for a few weeks now and taking my yasmin pill along with duloxetine antidepressant which has been great after it settled at the 4 weekpoint.
However yesterday I noticed bright red blood on my panty liner. No pain. This bleed was light and this morning its sort of fading off.
I last had an internal scan literally in June where my fibroid still there as it has been for about a year.(I get scans regular)
I'd also had an unexpected bleed before my last scan. Lady said lining of womb was thick at 10mm and needed for me to have a pill break which I did.
So yesterday a small bleed has happened again
 Got scan booked tomorrow.
I just thought I'd come here to ask if you ladies think this could be from patch at all? I'm still getting low level anxiety but not sure if that's coming from the duloxetine still settling??
I feel worse this morning than previous .....very tired, more anxiety feeling and low flat mood.
Could my patch be too low or high?
Just to add my mood has been great since duloxetine.  And my boobs are not sore .
Thank you
Vicky xxxx

Thst waste reason for me going to 80mg and sticking with it which I now know is the main thing here

Plus the last 4 days I've been having horrible fatigue.  Now not sure if this is the patch or duloxetine....

I just don't know what to do?

Sorry are you taking an estradiol patch AND a combined pill, Yasmin?

These should not be used together.

Ethinylestradiol is much more potent and I think there's 30mcg in Yasmin.

The progestin component may not be enough if you are on a HRT patch as well.

This may well be the cause of your bleeding, and it is unlikely to be anything sinister if you've had a recent pelvic scan and your smear is in date, however please speak to your GP or specialist as it is not safe practice to be on an ethinylestradiol based combined pill in addition to menopause hormone therapy.

Let us know the scan results? If the lining is still thick you need more progestogen. Bcp alongside hrt does seem to cause problems.

Hi both and thanks for your replies.
Yes I've been using this method since 2022 with no issues at all. GP is aware.
It's only been recently that I've had the small bleeds but I'm thinking it's because I wasa month late in June having a pill break, plus I used to add provera just before the break but my gynaecologist said no need as yasmin has enough progesterone......I'm now thinking she was wrong . Xxx

So....had scan all is fine . Fibroid no bigger.
The man said Togo back to adding provera to my regime before having my bleed every 3 months as my gynaecologist was wrong in saying my pill had enough progesterone to have a decent bleed.
So he said that was the reason for my small bleed. Xx

Hello Vicky81

I am so pleased that your scan was okay.

Hopefully your modified regime will work better for you in the future.

Take care.
