Oh I've been through all that when I began antidepressant medication in t he 1980s.  Still here!  Still upright ;-).  'they' would have to fight me 2 remove me from my meds !!!! oh and for chocolate  ;D

When my anxiety floors me I feel that I will never be well ...... which is scary.  My brain never returns to how well I've been  ::), it always hones in on negatives.  I don't know why, whether it's a survival strategy from our cave days?

This too will pass.  Half a day at a time.

Yes, when I'm having bad days I do take the day slowly and get through the best I can...
At the moment  it's lasting all day but I do know it will pass..if only it would pass permanently.... :-\...
I'll stop feeling sorry for myself now  ;D.x

I know how this is. Sometimes it is getting through the next hour. Go easy on yourself and try to work out what it is you need at the time as that will differ. I too have had worsening symptoms mid cycle and then end of cycle which im sure is estrogen related  particularly around ovulation when estrogen peaks. I now see a private psychiatrist and am on the right medication, to the point that even my PMDD is reduced to 2-3 days per month when it used to be a full 2 weeks. However I still get a dip when I get my period and it throws me off kilter for a few days so there is definitely some kind of hormonal interaction going on too. It is so hard, I really feel for you and I hope it gets better x

It is hard ....... sometimes the 'dips' are worse than when it all began!  Eating regularly can help, I may have said  ::)

From reading the guidelines today, it also looks like updated guidance is being issue in November this year, so not sure what else will change,  although hopefully for the better!

Morning ladies,
I have been on hrt for a year and antidepressants for 9 months but I am still getting anxiety dips every month so i had an appointment with the meno nurse and she suggested I go from 2 to 3 pumps of gel and not to let the anxiety trick me into thinking it's not working, well the first 3 weeks I felt great almost back to myself but Sunday it started again anxiety! Now 4 days in feeling pants...
Doesn't matter what I seem to do it keeps coming... any ladies have this experience? I'm scared this is always going to happen
 :-\

Estrogen drops in peri and so does progesterone but at a much faster rate so there is a risk of estrogen dominance

Some people find relief from initially just doing the progesterone- there is an estrogen dominance group in Facebook- and then adding estrogen later

Do you have any histamine or gut issues as that can also cause anxiety

How does your body feel with the extra pump?

As for allergies, in peri menopause we may become more sensitive !  Although I found out that my allergic rhinitis is due to dust  >:( ::)

IBS is a cover for many gut conditions.  I have slow transit.  For several years I drank two small bottles of Actimel a day and certainly when we were on. holiday without them, my bowel function was different.

For the first 3 weeks on extra pump I felt amazing the best I've felt in a long time and lasted for the longest time so far but then this dip again...but doesn't seem to be as strong as before although unpleasant...I've had noticeable ibs problems for the past 3 years has all the investigations done and they found nothing and said it was all anxiety fed..
This has improved but flares up obviously when I'm anxious the most...it's not so much fearing things it's better in that respect, its that dread feeling I cannot shake...it's hard to explain to people if they have never felt it and good for them as I wouldn't want to wish it on anyone.

Forgot to ask...
The doctor will not offer me a blood test to check my hormone levels, as I'm in peri..but surely it will give an indication depending on my mood and other symptoms??

You probably need more estrogen, Maria. It is very common for an increase to result in better symptoms - and then for things to go backwards a bit, because your body has made use of the extra estrogen and needs more. It is very promising that you felt 'amazing' when you first increased, it suggests that low estrogen is responsible.

Your doctor should offer you a blood test to check absorption if you are on the maximum licensed dose and still have symptoms. Are you on 4 pumps yet? If not, increase to 4 pumps and then ask your doctor for a blood test 6 weeks later if you still have these symptoms. Test during your period if possible as this will show you more accurately what you are getting from the HRT.

tnx joziel - and mayB don't increase all at once, giving your body time to uptake the extra as you move to 4 pumps?

Thanks ladies...
I will give the 3 pumps another 2 months before considering any extra...so it has plenty of time to get into my system
I don't have period joziel as I have the coil fitted so can't judge it that wait..it's all a guessing game really
It almost day 10 of feeling off so about another 4 to go before it starts lifting.. :).

My Newson doctor says the fastest increase is every 4 weeks. That's what she advises me.

I've just ignored her and increased to 6mg of Sandrena after 1 day at 4mg however.  ;D 4mg had me awake until 3am with all my worst night time symptoms - which improved as soon as I increased the next night. I'd rather slightly overshoot and then do bloods and find out and reduce down than spend half my life incrementally increasing HRT. That's why I am now 3 years on HRT and still have not got my E over 325pmol  :-\

I find that the symptoms I have improve within about 2 days of an increase, definitely by a week I can tell a difference. None of this 3 months business - I think some side effects like breast soreness, bleeding patterns and that kind of thing can take 3 months to settle and for some reason all side effects have been lumped together and we're just told to wait that long for everything. When some of us know our own bodies a bit better than that...

Maria, did you try utrogestan? I'm just wondering if your occasional mood blips could be low progesterone. The Mirena will deal with the uterine lining building up but it's not going to replace your lost progesterone. There is nothing wrong with you taking progesterone as well as being on the Mirena. The NHS sometimes doesn't like to prescribe both because they seem to think the entire role of progesterone is to stop the uterine lining building up so you don't need both - but P does much more systemically than this. However if you have bad P side effects, then ignore me....

Hi, I don't think I am intolerant of progesterone, although it's hard to pin point what's working and what's not...
Last time I upped my gel to 3 pumps I had bleeding, sore breasts etc and reduced back to 2.. but this time increasing nothing at all...could this also be a sign of low eastrogen?, or opposite?...
I'm worried I'll have eastrogen dominance and feel worse... I have never had my levels checked only fsh which of course was normal  ::)
