They announced it last year. 300 altogether over the next year.

It's the American owners trying to stop the whole lot collapsing I believe. Whenever I actually go into our local Boots stores they are almost empty of customers. Sign of the times. Too much competition maybe?

I read that in the business press at the weekend, hence my thread: I'm sure that I started another last year  ::) . Who would be in competition other than Lloyds  :-\.  Some supermarkets opened pharmacies to a point years ago but without a pharmacist they were unable to dispense.

So much stuff bought on line too I suppose   ???

So, do boots customers who get prescriptions there just change to another chemist?
Thanks.

The branches being closed are ones that are in close proximity to another store so I guess they'll just transfer to the other one.

Surely under Data Protection this should be done via the GP surgery?

Yes just tell your surgery you want your prescription sent to a different pharmacy  :)

Taz - BOOTS can't transfer patient data to another Chemist, surely ?

I prefer Lloyds - don't have any choice in our town  :D

I meant that the patient will decide where to have the medication request changed to. When the Sainsbury's pharmacies closed here we were given a choice when we next sent in a medication request.

Tnx.   I think in general that there is a lack of pharmacists across the UK so Supermarkets had to close their outlets.

It was Lloyds I worked for,NOT good employers and they can't keep hold of pharmacists in poorer areas
