???? in a handcart?
« on: July 19, 2024, 09:05:12 AM »

So the World is relying on technology far too much?  Hopefully no1 is intending to fly this weekend?

A few years ago I said to someone 'in technology' "We will be OK until Russia pulls the Plug".  'can't happen' he told me  ;D.  As long as we can watch le Tour de France this weekend I'll be OK  ;).  The final 3 days and it's still to play for!

Omg it's hell. At Stansted. Told to get here 3 hours earlier. Airport rammed. Everything being done manually. Even bag drop not working. Been told to come back in 45 minutes (despite arriving when told to) so now stuck outside with all the smokers ignoring the signs in the non smoking areas. The staff are being so patient though, theyll have earned their money today for sure. I really hope we get away, it's my birthday today, a big one too, and our wedding anniversary on Monday 🙈

Oh a Birthday - U know how to live, with your I-Spy Planes book at the Airport Terminal  :D.  [another reason not to fly >:(].

MayB if you tell the airport staff they will nip and buy you a   :cake:  ;)

Any idea how long you'll need to wait, at least you aren't in the plane.  That happened on a flight recently, apparently it was 90mins B4 they could take off  :o :o something about missing a 'slot'  :-\

Thank you! We arrived and it's lovely, and I've just had my first beer! Stansted was awful, hand written boarding passes, people being told to just find a seat on the plane as they couldn't allocate seats, then an hour on the plane before take off, but we are here now and tomorrow when I'm in the thermal baths it will be a distant memory! Fingers crossed it's sorted before Monday when we fly back!

Looks like it was an update gone wrong. I'm guessing heads will roll, but probably not the ones that really caused the problem! Just some scapegoats  :-\
It's worrying to see how many businesses are affected, and we're only really seeing the big ones. No doubt a lot of smaller businesses will also be affected, and probably with greater consequences. Lets hope they get some form of compensation, and that we learn from it. For one company to have such an impact is very worrying!

getting_old - so many big companies not having a back up system  :o.  Waitrose cafe couldn't open due to the Tills not accepting cash  :D.  They sorted it by 11.00 , probably the thought of all that profit being lost.

We R too reliant on technology!
