Ongoing bleeding on Continuous HRT
« on: July 18, 2024, 02:19:53 PM »

Hello, I have been taking continous HRT for about 18 months 1.5mg of Sandrena Estrogen gel and 100mg Utrogestan. For the first year i had no bleeding. I'm 53 and had been on sequential for 3 years prior to this. I had by first bleed after 1 year. I had an ultrasound and biopsy and saw a Gynae in Feb who confirmed nothing suspicious but my uterine lining with 8mm thick. She upped by dose of Utrogestan to 200mg every day. I'm still having some bleeding each month and have just started a full on period! Intested to know if anyone else has had a similar issue and if they took an even higher dose of Utrogestan etc?

Hi there

I was taking 200mg progesterone continuously with a 100mg evorel patch for about 7 months. Sorry to say I had almost continuous bleeding on that regime so have gone back to cyclical, which has sorted out the bleeding issue.

Hope that helps x

Thanks for that info. I suspect that's what i may end up needing to do. I can't get an appt with my HRT nurse until mid August.

Is a mirena IUS an option for you?

if so that would probably sort it out.

Thanks yes I was thinking that may be an option as the Utrogestan doesn't seem to be enough.
