New Estradot patches… different brands!?
« on: June 07, 2024, 02:59:30 PM »

Hello! So, since the estradot debarcle the patches have since starting coming back in stock. But I have noticed on my patches the boxes look slightly different, then I noticed the supplier is different?? One says Sandoz and one says Novartis?? Has anyone else got a mixture of patch brands?

Wondering if people have felt okay on the new estradot batches? I’m not a great absorber anyway and I’m young (32) but just need to settle my mind in thinking that they won’t work as good as before because of the shortages (like the whole estrogel situation!!)

Thank you! X

During the last estradot shortage problem I contacted the manufacturer for an explanation. Am not sure where that thread is now... Was some months ago. May be worth seeing of you can find it.

If memory serves me right, novartis no longer makes estradot, sandoz was the new manufacturer ( think so got that the right way round !)

I don't even check the  manufacturer on the box now. I Am just relieved to have the estradot available again. I am on a 125 strength.

I assume you have a mix of old and new stock. Personally I have not noticed any difference at all. Hope you feel the same.

,

I was just wondering how you are getting on. I found your message today because I suspect that there is something different about my new Estrodot patches. I too am a poor absorber so rely on higher doses of the patch (200mcg) to get a normal physiological estradiol response on blood testing. However, my blood levels dropped suddenly to low normal and my GSM symptoms and night sweats returned. I looked at the Estrodot packages I have and noticed that my new batch of HRT Estrodot 100's are made by Sandoz and not Novartis. I had a few Novartis patches left in smaller doses so tried them again at my normal 200mcg dose and symptoms improved again. So, it appears I may be reacting differently to the new patches. I am a little uncertain what is going on at the moment but thought I would check in on how you are. Thanks.

Hey savemoretrees,

So, I’ve been using the Sandoz patches because those are the new supplier batches now and I’m back to square 1 symptom wise, I’m incredibly depressed, joint pain, hot flushes etc. so bad that I’m off work sick now with a GP sick note! The old Novartis ones will die off soon and we’ll only have these Sandoz ones as our option!! So I’ve started oral estrogen a few days ago (which was always the plan with my poor absorption). Yet to see any improvement.

But unfortunately, I would definitely say there’s an issue with the Sandoz batches and more and more women will suffer soon! The best you can do is speak to your doctor about switching patch to Evorel maybe?? And this is very important - report to the yellow card scheme!! Nothing will get investigated unless women formally report these things. The doctor who I’m under, dr Naomi potter put a post on instagram about the new patches being defected. X

That's what I thought. I am so sorry you are suffering too. Evorel falls off me so no luck there. Do you think we just need a higher dose of Estrodot Sandoz to match the Novartis or do you think you don't absorb at all? I want bodyidentical hrt so that limits choice. Do you have a link to your doctors IG post as I want to share it with Newson Health. They said they have had no complaints so far. What are we going to do? :(

Hey, I doubt a higher dose would work tbh. I was on 250mcg and upped to 300mcg!!! With no avail. (I’m 32 and in very early menopause). I personally don’t think they absorb at all or VERY minimal absorption. I’ve seen many people in facebook groups complaining and if you find the post I’m talking about on instagram, it’s had over 200 comments of women struggling with the new sandoz patches!! :-(

I can’t send the link on here, but her instagram is dr Naomi potter, she runs a menopause clinic same as Newson. She did a video 12th June, regarding estradot complaints. Check it out :-) x

You are right. I agree. There was such a huge drop in my blood estradiol levels that the Sandoz patches must be pretty useless. I will check out a couple of facebook groups. I have some spare Novartis patches and replaced the Sandoz and my symptoms are returning to normal. I only have 2-weeks of Novartis left though... I do hope you find a good resolution to your symptoms. i understand the stress and unbearableness of it all when symptoms are out of control.

Look on Instagram. Dr Naomi Potter.

Lots of probs with estradot either not sticking or not delivering E well. Many women with symptoms returning. Best to switch to something else. Can’t believe this is happening again to another HRT product. It’s like we don’t matter.

So after 5 years plus trying all different types and doses of HRT I finally settled, not amazing but would take it, most of my symptoms of returned. I have been on the new Sandoz brand for 3 weeks and it’s the only thing I can put it down to?  What can I do? I have a full screening blood test booked for Friday just  to rule anything else out!

You can try a different brand of patch like Evorel. Or you can switch to gel.

I’ve tried both Evorel and gel and Estardot has been the only thing that has settled things unfortunately. So frustrating!

I'm on 6 pumps of gel and 200mcg Estradot but I only re-started the Estradot since it changed to the new manufacturer so I don't have anything to compare to there. I'm trying to organise bloods in the next few days to see what my levels are...

I’ve been on Estradot for over 2 years now so I’m pretty sure it’s that but thought I would check all my bloods to see what’s going on? If nothing comes back not sure what I can do. Thank you so much for replying !
