Testosterone and ovestin
« on: May 02, 2024, 06:35:39 AM »

Morning all

I saw a gynaecologist last week who specialises in menopause and who prescribed me testosterone and ovestin. I am already on HRT and Vagifem. Been having bleeding so going through GP for that to be investigated. I had to have my testosterone levels tested and they are 0.7 FAI. I started yesterday with this. Lots of burning with the cream so must have needed it but I also have Interstitial Cystitis and this flared so I am thinking just do the cream first till I get improvement and then try testosterone again. Kept running to the loo every 5 mins. Anyone experienced in this?

It's up to you - the VA needing local oestrogen has nothing to do with testosterone so you can satrt the T whenever you want really. I sometimes find local oestrogen acts as an irritant eg increased loo visits the day I insert the Vagirux - but definitely not every five minutes. How have you been precsribed to use the Ovestin? It's 10 x stronger than the other Estriol cream so not designed to be spread quite as liberally. What T have you been prescribed?

It’s the bladder irritation due to my interstitial cystitis that’s the issue and although different both impacted that. I put a pea sized amount of the cream. Have stopped both for now and then gonna try testosterone again. It’s Testogel in 40.5 mcg sachets and again a pea sized amount each day. Bladder and burning easing now I have stopped. Always have problems with any hormones.
