Decidual Cast on HRT?
« on: May 01, 2024, 11:07:35 AM »

Has anyone else experienced a decidual (uterine) cast while on HRT?

I seem to be having my second one in the space of a year and whilst they're not in themselves dangerous they are meant to be really rare so I'm wondering if it is linked to my HRT? I'd never had one until last year. I'm currently on Oestrogel and Utrogestan (cyclically so I still get a bleed). I'm definitely not pregnant so the cast isn't likely to be dangerous (they can occur with ectopic pregnancy) but it is breathtakingly painful! I know they can be linked to contraceptives containing progesterone but can't see anything about HRT.

I will be seeing my doctor but wondered if anyone had come across this before? Could it mean I need more or less of one of them? I find my GP responds well to advice from the Menopause Matters Forum!

Thanks Teacup

Looking at NHS guidelines I don't think that there's reason to panic, it is rare and often 1/twice and never happens again.

I would however speak to the Nurse Practitioner at my Surgery and have it written into my medical records.
