Hello, are these just standard.
I have been on my current HRT for about nine years and I don't want to stop it or change it.
I am 57 with a womb, using evorel and utrogestan.
Am I just panicking, is it routine or are some doctors still reluctant to keep women on hrt?
My surgery has loads of GP's.

Ideally we should have an annual review, but I never got one until last year. I'd been on the same regime for a few years. It coincided with my usual GP, one of the senior partners, retiring and me being assigned to someone else. I think they just decided to go with how things ought to be done.

Don't panic.  It's probably some new 'improvement' because someone's complained for not having been reviewed recently, or a new GP there suggesting they really should be offering reviews, etc. Yes some doctors are still in the dark ages, but there's nothing to suggest this is that.

If you're worried, print out the guidelines saying no age limit and take them with you.  If you get any nonsense, ignore them and book to see a different GP. 

And breathe.  Responsible docs should check your BP annually on HRT.  So breathe.

Yes it's standard at my practice to need a review annually for hrt.  Otherwise the prescription isn't renewed.  They will do it over the phone.  Quite surprising you've gone 9 years without.

Make your point that the regime is working for you, also would GPs stop heart or diabetic medication?

I get a review every year, supposedly in my birth month  - unless I forget to book 1.

Yes, around my birthday too.  It's never a problem really,  they are just checking things are okay. I wouldn't worry.

Tell them , you are informed regarding the risks and benefits, and that you choose to remain on HRT. Google Louise Newson who has  good info on taking HRT long term. If the GP is reluctant then ask them to explain in an email why they are refusing you treatment.  It is your choice.
