Bleeding!! Help
« on: April 08, 2024, 06:07:51 PM »

Hey Ladies,

Hope you are all well.

So I had a full Hysterectomy 4 years ago at the age of 36 and about a year ago I had a random bit of brown blood from vagina and Dr kinda just ignored it as didn't know what it was.. tied saying was from dry vagina but I knew it wasn't.. then it happened last week so I just ignored and now it's happening again and I have really bad tummy pains.. but I have nothing in there??? Has anyone experienced this??

This needs to definitely be checked out Lisa. Did you retain your cervix?

Sorry, I have no idea what it is but I also think it needs to be checked out.

It could be something called granulation of tissue which can happen years after hysterectomy but you do need to rule out anything more serious. Don't let the doctor fob you off again.

That's what Google said.. I have been extra busy the last few days so maybe it is that... I just can't see it being serious as nothing is in there?

It isn't just blood though, you have pain as well. I look at it the opposite way, no obvious cause so perhaps something very wrong. Please get checked out.

Hi Lisa. You cannot rely on Google or anecdotal information for bleeding and pain post meno. You need to go back, to a different doctor given your previous one didn't look into it, and get this checked out. There is still the vaginal canal and bladder that things can go wrong with and Sheila is right re no obvious cause. Nobody on here can tell you it's okay, you need a physical examination. Ate you anxious about getting checked out?

Hi Lisa

I would like to echo everything which has been said. I had a hysterectomy 4 months ago and my gynae surgeon said, ANY bleeding or abdominal pain and I am to call her secretary immediately and I will be checked over.

As Penguin rightly says, you  cannot rely on google for answers. Do call your surgery, ask to speak to a different GP and they should refer you to gynae, sooner rather than later.

Our bodies are very complex, I’ve discovered of late and you simply cannot assume all is well, all of the time.

Best of luck 🤞

Lisa although you have no uterus you can still develop tumours in the vaginal lining and a symptom of this is spotting or bleeding. I'm sorry to say that but you do need to rule this out. It's probably vaginal atrophy but you don't know that. Any bleeding years after hysterectomy is abnormal and needs to be investigated.

I'm.not anxious.. I just feel like I'm wasting their time....
I have been referred to a menopause guini specialist in July to discuss other hormone therapy.. so I can always ask them to check me over...

If it gets worse or continues more than just a day at a time I will go Dr

Donna-paul, sorry to hear you are struggling; I am too. Lack of hormones is brutal. Can you use vagifem and Ovestin?

Lisa, you won’t be wasting anyone’s time. If you are in pain or have and kind of bleeding or discharge, post hysterectomy, then common sense, says call the surgery.

No one suffering from lumps or unusual bleeding is ever wasting their GP's time. I certainly would not wait until July to get it checked out, where you will no doubt get a telling off for not seeing your GP sooner.
