Continuous Utrogeston
« on: February 16, 2024, 04:31:45 PM »

Hi ladies

Anyone still in peri and on hrt but switched from sequential utrogeston to continuous utrogeston and found it helped?

I am 47 been on hrt since September and still have a bleed but wondering if going continuous would help sleep (as sleep well on them for 2 weeks).  Also did they stop your bleed.

I know we have to wait a year on hrt or until bleeds stop to go on continuous but I have heard some ladies have changed as helped with symptoms.

Thanks

Hi

Yes, I switched from sequential to continuous and still peri. I started continuous in October 2023, 100mg evorel & 100mg utro and quite a few breakthrough bleeds. I then upped to 200mg utro (without informing my gp, BMS guidelines say its fine) and have only had spotting in January, no full bleed. My GP said it can take 6 months to become bleed free so I'm hoping it's winding down. I deffo feel better on continuous, less up and down mood wise and my sleep is better.

Hope that helps x

Bandango42 Can I ask how old you are?  And where your bleeds regular or changing before going continuously.  Thanks.

I'm 44, started hrt when I was 42 as periods had stopped for 3 mths and had horrid peri meno symptoms. Was on sequential until last Oct when I started having breakthrough bleeding on sequi so gp suggested trying continuous. Went 7 weeks with no bleeding whatsoever, then had a period, spotting, 2 periods in November, a long period in December then just spotting in January. Had a little spotting this month but it's all just been brown (sorry tmi) so I'm guessing my womb lining is remaining thin and there's not enough to come out.  I do feel much more stable on conti despite the bleeding. If bleeding continues after 6 mths I will probably go back to sequi. I desperately want to be bleed free but not have mirena coil so hoping by 6mths I'm bleed free x

Sorry, also meant to say my bleeds on sequi were regular for 18 mths apart from the odd month when I'd bleed before starting the utro. But at the end of last summer they were all over the place and it was doing my head in so decided to take my gps advice and try conti.

Thanks.  I am worried about breakthrough bleeding.  Might wait a bit longer before starting continuous to see if bleeds settle, at present mine are sometimes on starting utrogestan or on second week.  Would be nice to know they might come same time every month.  This peri is fun!!

Taking it 25 days out of 28 can be useful.in late peri as itvallows a bleed if there's been a build up. If you still have a cycle of your own it's likely you'll still bleed unless you use a mirena.
