Off to Lanzarote week today.
A nice short break for me & OH.

Watching various pro-cycling racing on 📺, it is obvious that here in the UK we like to have our borders - hedges, fences, walls, gates - whereas in France and Italy, there are very few defined borders.  Especially in the Alps - it's all grass with chalets and farms with very few obvious separations between properties  . 

How does 1 keep in the toddlers, goats, dogs, house cow  without causing a row with the neighbours?

It's the same in Norway ,very few fences,occasionally you see a pretty picket fence in more built up areas,other Europeans are obviously not as uptight as we Brits

Perhaps they don't get as much vandalism, burglary and crime as we do!

How very true Dierdre, when we go to other countries,it seems they have a sense of pride in their towns,nothing like that here sadly

How does 1 control dogs/kids/scooters without fences

I'd guess they aren't controlled, and are just allowed to roam the neighbourhoods.

MayB they are trained to go within their home boundary?

In the canaries, everywhere you go, you’ll always see little cat houses outside hotels, ect….
Dont know who makes them, but we saw a man on a bike putting some toys in the one, hanging from the roof so the cat could enjoy playing with them.
There’s always water and food for them too. It’s really lovely to see.
I wonder if they’re there to catch lizards. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah in Gran Canaria,there is a huge bronze statue dedicated to an old lady that used to feed the cats,it's really beautiful,it's her with a few cats round her feet.
I don't like cats

Strays mostly.  A neutering programme would help, at least people are soft about them: like me ;-)
