Very similar experience for me too. 6 months absolutely fine on Utrogestan and gel. Pharmacy gave me Gepretix with no warning ... googled it and it looked the same. After a week I started spotting, menstrual symptoms and a full period (I even got a bit of acne). I contacted the GP and I've been given a new prescription for Utrogestan and told to discuss with GP at my appointment next month.

Very odd that this has happened as it's 'supposed' to be the same, but this was the only thing that had changed for me. I only saw the posts here after I'd contacted the GP, and I'll be sure to mention wider issues when I see her next.

Hello ladies.

I am using Utrogestan at the moment but I am following this thread with interest.Gepretix

I wonder if Gepretix is a weaker formulation and that is causing the problem of returning symptoms? If so then this product might  be better for those women who are struggling with the full effects of Utrogestan.

Take care ladies.

K.

Reading all the comments has made me feel so much better, I was changed to Gepretix 3 months ago and started experiencing bleeding. Had tests and all come back normal(thankful for that) keep being told Gepretix and Utrogestan are the same but I am sure the change to Gepretix has caused my symptoms

Hi, Reading these posts hoping they may be relevant to what is happening to me! I am 56 and started on Sandrena gel and sequential Utrogestan 2.5 years ago as perimenopausal, still had regular periods and have been fine on that regime with no problems and felt so much better.  Due to the shortages I was given Zentiva progesterone, then 2 lots of Gepretix and I too have been having the spotting and then a heavy bleed after the 2 weeks of taking them. Also have sore boobs and occasional period pain. I have  requested now just branded Utrogestan to see if it is that but am so anxious and worried it’s something sinister 😥 It’s awful and just on my mind all day. I have a Gynae appointment early August
but am already thinking the worst 😥

I've just been given some Gepretix but haven't used it yet as I've got some utrogestan stored up.

I did ask my Newson GP about it and she said it's exactly the same ingredients as utrogestan (which it is, I've checked) and 95% of women don't notice any difference and are fine with it, but some swear they absorb it differently.

I'd rather just not have to deal with more changes right now on top of all the estrogen increases going on... but if I don't trial it soon I'll end up with a ton of it...

Hi I’ve had a similar experience. Ran out of utrogestan so started Gepretix a couple of weeks ago and have had some spotting after nothing for years. Will ask to go back on utrogestan I just don’t think the change was right for me

Thank you all for being honest .. I was given Gepretix instead of Utrogestan and suffered awful bleeding, period pains , lower back ache , etc !!
went back to my GP requested Utrogestan,  within 36 hours the bleeding had stopped ! If I hadn’t have come across this a forum I would still be struggling. Thank you 🙏

I was given Gepretix instead of Utrogestan and didn't think anything of it- until a day after starting the new prescription I got spotting which didn't stop and then cramping as if I was having a period. I've been on CC HRT since Dec 22 with no issues until this. Spotting continued so consulted dr and got sent for a pelvic ultrasound scan which came through really quickly. I didn't stop the HRT but a chance mention to a friend who said her sister had been period free for 3 yrs then got bleeding with Gepretix.
During my week (8 days total) of Gepretix I had bleeding that was more than a little spotting, bloating, cramps that at times were quite severe, awful headaches that wouldn't shift with painkillers and insomnia. I went to the surgery on the Monday (scan was Sunday) after finding online that others had had problems with Gepretix too to request switching back to Utrogestan. My scan came back as abnormal with thickened lining although I'm not sure what it was so I'm off the HRT for 6 weeks then review with dr and next steps. If I end up back on any progesterone i'll be specifically asking for Ustrogen as it was far to much of a coincidence that all the problems started with the change in progesterone-despite them supposedly being 'the same'!
I'm pleased that I mentioned to my friend about the bleeding because without that mention I probably wouldn't have associated the problems with the Gepretix.

It's a bit uncool to take you off HRT for 6 weeks. There are lots of things that could be implemented, including a Mirena coil and many other progestins if needed. You wouldn't just take someone off their thyroid meds for 6 weeks, I don't know why doctors think it's okay to do this with HRT....
