Not sure this makes me an author, but………
« on: December 23, 2023, 09:08:03 PM »

Hi Everyone
This year I had my book published.  It’s called Sharp Scratch and it’s about my surgical trauma that left me disabled,  I wrote the book because I wanted to raise awareness about my condition which is called an enterocutaneous fistula.  The hospital completely played it down and it was only years later I realise the seriousness of it and the fact it will probably kill me.  It sounds naive that I didn’t realise something was awfully wrong, well I did but at that time I just wanted to survive.  B6 the time I realised the full extent it ws too late to complain or take legal action.  On saying that my surgeon wa and is wonderful and I dint think it was negligent just sometimes complications happen.
This forum was very supportive to me and I’m very grateful.
Here is my book, there are no financial gains for me x

Dear groundhog,
I have just brought the kindle version of your book off Amazon, through the link you posted.
Well done for writing your story and getting your book published.
I look forward to reading it over Christmas.

That’s so nice of you , thank you.
Please manage your expectations ! This was written from the heart, I have no literary skills but I do have  love of words.
Thank you so much, please leave a review good or bad.

I’d like to right a second book about second harm.  Second harm is when you get  poor institutional response when you have experienced healthcare harm.  I’m not saying mine was negligent but because my outcome was so terrible I found the shutters went up as the authorities assumed I was going to sue.  I never sued or complained but some years later I found out some very worrying facts about what happened to me.  It was too late for legal action so I approached the hospital for  Frank and honest discussion as I was having psychological problems.  They were terrible, didn’t want to know. Smoke, mirrors and misinformation .  Made things much worse for me.

Thanks again ladies x

Hi, I would be happy to read your book and your story. What happened to you is terrible, but it gives me hope to see how people find the strength to turn their pain into creativity. This always makes me happy. I've never really been able to write. Now my niece showed me https://chat.openai.com/g/g-a0ULgFcuZ-essay-helper which she uses for school. Kids write like that now. And I read a book and try to choose a style for myself. I am sure your book will help many people understand what you went through and might support those going through something similar. Thank you for sharing your experience. I wish you strength for the steps ahead!
