Worried about 2 week referral for ultrasound
« on: December 04, 2023, 12:31:31 PM »

Hi ladies
I can't  believe I'm back here again  already. It's only recently I had a ct scan and cytoscopy.
Details are....had blood in urine in October. Had 2 week referral for the above.. .all clear.
Was given oestriol cream for VA ...I'm already on oestrofel and utrogestan.
GP asked to examine me internally  this morning....couldn't find anything , so has now referred me again to the hospital  for ultrasound to check womb lining....she says needs she needs to rule everything out as still can't find out why I had the blood in the first place.  Really getting me down now as I thought this was all over  and resolved as VA. I'm many years postmenopausal and 55.
Any of you had similar experience??

Your GP doesn't seem to realise what vaginal atrophy symptoms can show.  If the vagina is dry and thin there may be bleeding which will show in the urine or on a tissue/pad.

Often the Depts won't accept another referral if recent results are 'within normal limits'.  How often do you use the VA cream, every night may well improve symptoms.

Let us know.

My symptoms exactly northerngirl, traces of blood but my dr putting it down to VA as she said the traces would be there all the time if it was anything bad,I buy the urine strips and test at home, some days clear others not, plays with your anxiety doesn't it? But VA IS the most likely culprit x

Yes I’ve had this experience three times in three years.  No reason found for bleeding at any time x

Only got examined by the GP earlier today. As she can't seem to find out what caused the original bleeding she wants to rule everything out.
She said there are definite signs of VA ....only just started the oestrogen cream last week so early days.
Very worried now when she started talking about the lining of my womb...just wish this nightmare would stop.  I thought after having CT scan and cytoscopy  everything was done and I could just start the cream.
Wondering if it's worth continuing on systemic HRT or just the vaginal oestrogen.
Thanks for all your advice again ladies....much appreciated  :)

Continue with both as it may take a few nights B4 the atrophy treatment begins to work.  If the symptoms have stopped by the time you get the appt through, I would cancel.  U have recently had scans?

What was the CT scan for ?

It's good she's being so thorough but if you've had scans etc that surely would've picked anything up,even if it IS your womb lining,it may just be it's thickened in places etc,VA the most likely cause xx

CT was for the unexplained blood in urine...I also had uti symptoms and no infection
I've had the ultrasound appointment through for Friday this week and feel I should go just incase.
If there is thickening of the womb lining what does that mean??

Where do you buy the urine strips from? My GO says she's being a good dr and doing what any good dr would do....which I suppose is true but can't help but worry

It was visible....which started the chain of investigations. All of which have so far been clear (CT scan and cytoscopy)

Are these strips to detect blood or check the ph?
