Ladies who use Ovestin - how many tubes of cream and how often do you re-order your prescription/how long does the cream last you?

My GP seems to think 1 tube of cream should last me 3 months???

No chance on three months!  I use it internally alternate nights and one tube lasts 2 weeks.   I have it on repeat for a year and get four every 2 months.  I have a review each year and get the same.

Mine is prob every six to eight wks as i use every 2nd day but sometimes just half the amount depends on my sypmtoms.

I am assuming your GP is under the impression you are using a pea sized amount to add topically on the outside. This is how I use Ovestin and a tube lasts me 3 months but that's alongside my daily dose of Vagifem.

I think, or I hope there is a misunderstanding here by your GP.

I use mine internally everynight, I did have a few boxes spare but one tube will definitely not be enough for each month. So I will need to ask for double the amount on my prescription.

A 15g tube lasts me 3 weeks using externally every night. I have 2 tubes (30 grams) on repeat every 6 weeks.
I also use vagifem every night.

I use Vagifem every day plus Ovestin externally and a tube lasts about 4 weeks.

I get two tubes when necessary.  Occasionally 1 turns up probably due to a shortage.

Do you think that you may have misintertrepted the GP ?  Did he/she say something like "give it 3 months" which is the rough minimum time for the ovestin to start working.

I would ring or do an econsult to make sure that you obtain it more often.  It is quite expensive to keep buying it.

The doctor is probably working on the fact that you would be using the cream twice a week. Each application is 0.5g which amounts to 1g per week. The tube has 15g so that would last 15 weeks. He hasn't accounted for the 2 week everyday pre load or that you might need more than twice a week.

I've been using it every night externally for 2 months. I'm on my 2nd tube. Maybe I'm using too much as I also use vagifem alternate nights.
