Return of symptons
« on: November 11, 2023, 11:07:54 AM »

Hello ( again ! ) ... I've used this forum for a few years now and have found it a life saver !! I'm in need of advice please ! I'm currently on a regime of Evorel 50 patches and utrogestan daily ( and continual ) ... Ive been on this regime since last December and overall found it effective. Recently, however, I have found my anxiety returning ... light headed, palpitations and general unease! Could this just me a blip in my LONG menopause journey or is it an indication that I need to up my dosage ? Any advice would be appreciated! Many thanks x

Morning.  It could be that your own hormones are kicking in so you may require a hike.  When do those symptoms become troublesome, is it cynical?

How is your diet overall?  R U well hydrated?

If you don't get a sensible response put the product names into the search box and read the associated threads: make notes ;-).  I believe that some do cut patches to add a small amount to the 50 as going up to 75 [I think] can be too much of an increase.

As you are on a low/ medium dose of oestrogen, it would be reasonable to go up to a 75 patch if your symptoms are not controlled.

It isn't uncommon to need an increase in your oestrogen dose as your own supply diminishes. I've had to increase twice because of retuning symptoms.

Up a patch strength each time (25mcg), a couple of years between increases I think.

Thankyou ... I think I'll give it another week or two then go back to my gp ... I was just hoping that I'd seen the last of my anxiety which has definitely been my worst symptom by far ! The joys of the menopause continues !!!

Hi … further to my previous post … I’m still suffering with return of symptoms… daily headaches , insomnia and anxiety ( all no doubt connected! ) … I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday so just wanting some advice so I’m pre-armed !
If I up my everol to 75 would I need to also up my utrogestan from 100ml ?
Also wondering if I should add ads ? ( previously been on fluoxetine which worked prior to hrt )
Should I request blood tests ?
Sorry… I just feel so miserable again !
Any help / advice would be much appreciated xxxx

If you’re on continuous Utrogestan then it would be 100 a day .

Morning.  A hike to 75 may be far too much at once.  U may find that adding 75 every 3/4th night helps initially if the patches can't B cut into pieces.

Some do require Anti-depressants along with HRT so don't beat yourself up if you decide to go that route.

Take a list of symptoms to the appt to discuss.  Let us know how you get on.

Thankyou! I feel all my symptoms are being driven mainly by the anxiety and if I could sort that I would be so much better ! Obviously easier said than done ! I am definitely open to ADs so am going open minded to the doctors and see what is suggested/ offered !
Thankyou again for your advice x

I’ve just had some blood results ( testing my estrogen levels ) and would like some advice please !
My oestradiol is 211pmol/L ????
Just wondering if anyone knows if this is high/ low/ normal ???
I had bloods in relation to possibly upping my Evorel 50 due to a return of symptoms.
Many Thanks !!! Xx

Hi, 211 is lowish.  Top of oestradiol ref range for a postmenopausal woman at the lab I use is 189 so you are not a lot above what some women can make for themselves postmeno without HRT.  My gynae advises aiming for betweeen 300-800, but what we feel well on is very individual & may also depend on where you are in menopause.

It's more about how you feel than chasing blood test results. If your symptoms are not controlled you have scope to increase. Evorel 50 is only a low/medium dose and the maximum licensed dose is 100. That aside, I would describe 211 pmol/l as on the low side of adequate, but we are all different and someone else might feel great at that level.

Hello … just a quick update from me …. Following a slight bleed / spotting ( resulting I think from a stomach upset/ poor absorption of my daily utrogestan)  … my anxiety has heightened and I have now decided to add ADS to my regime . My doctor has prescribed Fluroxetine which I have used before . She has also referred me for a scan due to the bleeding ( which I expected ) . I’m now waiting patiently for the tablets to kick in and trying to get through these first few days of increased anxiety symptoms! My last experience with Fluroxetine was fine but I can’t remember how long they took to kick in ( and make me feel better rather than worse ! ) Any advice would as always be welcome! Xx
