I have been waiting for this op for a long time (due to an NHS admin error). I now have a provisional date next week. It is only day surgery with no overnight stay. I have someone to collect me and stay with me for 24: hrs.
My question is just to anyone who has had this done. How did it go? Apart from getting over the anaesthetic, were there any other issues? How long did you have to keep a dressing on it? How long did you stay off work?  I have found conflicting advice on this.  Thanks

My husband had it done by our own GP who was a consultant in a previous life.
Although the cyst was big it was an easy procedure with a local anaesthetic, he had stitches and a plaster over the cut with no problems after.

I wouldn't say huge but I was told that it would definitely need a GA back in 2016 when it was first checked and it was smaller then.

I’ve had many of these cysts over the years. I had one on side of my face that I had to have surgically removed. It was only done with a local anaesthetic though. I had to stay at the hospital for an hour or so after as I had a lot of the anaesthetic and was a bit wobbly for a while after. Back at work the following day with just a small plaster and stitches were removed a week later. I’ve got one I’ve had for years just to the side of my cleavage in my boob. It’s never really caused a problem although I have squeezed it a few times. Gp said to leave it unless it becomes painful etc

I had one, on the back of my neck, treated with local anaesthetic at my GP surgery years ago.  I had five stitches, which had to be kept dry.  Removed one week later with no problems.

I have two other bothersome ones that need doing.  Might well go private as it seems my practice no longer does them.

My GP service has never offered this but it was a GP there who first noticed it and referred me to the hospital back in 2016. My surgery is now postponed because they weren't happy with a thyroid blood test result. To do with having an anaesthetic.

. I have hit a brick wall with this because, for several weeks,  my GP practice has been ignoring the many requests from the hospital to adjust my medication. I only found out about the delay 2 weeks ago. The hospital has made repeated attempts to contact them with no response. Obvious things like correct Practice and email have been checked. Practice denies receiving anything! I was supposed to get a phone call last week and then yesterday but no call. I have lodged a complaint.
