Thank you I was going to give it a month and then go back if no better
Really wish I'd thought going on hrt through better! I was very niave and thought it was a winder drug which for some it is foe me it's been a beast x

Yes. I'm sure the outcome will be the same. Biopsies were taken. He's basing it on the fact that the area of change isn't as large as they'd normally expect but change is change!

Ah yes okay I see what you mean. Although if it is less, then it means less area with potential too doesn't it.

Yes I can imagine it would. Hopefully you can get some reassurance this week. Sounds a silly question but can't they just treat the affected cells in some way? Zap them with something. Would they do that if it was private?

No. I just have to control the acid by omeprazole and diet. Obviously the worry around it, causes more acid!

This is purely anecdotal, I don't know if it will help others but for me taking a magnesium supplement seems to have completely sorted out any indigestion problems. Maybe worth a try/ exploring ?

Tnx.  Years ago I tried high dose magnesium for a persistent cough after a cold that wouldn't shift.  It cleared the cough after about 8-10 days, however, I needed to be near the loo 

I will take milk of magnesia B4 my bath an hour B4 bed which might mean that I can lay down to sleep!

My condition has been caused by chronic acid reflux. The acid has changed the cells at the bottom of my oesophagus.  I knew it could cause scarring then tightening of the oesophagus. I didn't know it could cause cell change. Could have been like that for years. Id not ha an endoscopy for 13 years. Just taking omeprazole intermittently and gaviscon. Some nights i was up walking round the room feeling like i was having heart attack. Acid needs to be controlled

This is why I get a bit annoyed when friends and random people in the pub tell me that using a ppi longterm is bad for my health. I had severe ulceration of the oesophagus before I saw my GP and was told, after an endoscopy,  that if it was left there was a high chance it would lead to cell changes and then cancer. I have a hiatus hernia so the acid goes where it shouldn't. Not much I can do to completely stop that happening. I hope you are ok Jules.

I also have a hernia. And I was told the same about the cancer but they just handed me a leaflet. I worry about what i can eat, and everytime I get a bit of indigestion that it's causing more damage, no way of knowing other than swallowing a camera. Hopefully I'll be clearer after this one
