Low cortisol maybe adrenal problems
« on: October 23, 2023, 10:42:35 AM »

Morning all,
I have been getting worsening joint pain and muscle fatigue along with crashing exhaustion for almost a year now. It is particularly bad first thing in the morning. I have difficulty getting up and down the stairs, can't pick things up and move slower than a snail. I get a bit better in the day, until late afternoon and evenings are slightly better. I can only do a fraction of the things I could do.

I have tested negative for Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus etc but a cortisol test shows it is low. Am due a short synacthen test in hospital in a couple of weeks. I also have underactive thyroid and Raynauds, and CFS.

Does anyone else have low cortisol that affects them like this? It's doing my head in t be honest. Addisons  Disease is in the family so I think it may be an adrenal problem of some sort.
Thanks

I know! Some days I just think, well, at least I'm still standing - mostly...

Just gotta get on with it best I can and hope that we can work out what is going on. 🙄

I have high cortisol rather than low but know that adrenals in general can affect both female hormones and anxiety levels. I wonder if the investigation into this, and subsequent treatment if it is Addisons or similar, might have a positive impact on your meno symptoms too? Hope you get some answers and feel better with it soon, it must be so difficult dealing with such bad fatigue and join pain on a daily basis xx

Thanks Penguin,

I think the various body hormones and any 'damage'  or change to them  can definitely have an effect on each other Thyroid and peri\meno hormones clashing  (as seen by the various posts on this forum ) seem quite common.

I am looking at it as hopefully trying to rebalance all the various  hormones so they all get a bit more stable.
Just relieved I may get some answers soon. X
