Hi Dorothy Gale I’m sorry you too are having these issues.
I went through this for quite sometime I thought it was grinding my teeth, then thought it was a tooth (even had a root canal) and it still it persisted.
It has turned out to be chronic migraine, it’s atypical in that it rarely goes to a headache but it’s good old migraine!
Might be worth looking into in case it’s that.
Hope you get it sorted.

Hi Dorothy, I'm in the NW, my Gp referred me back in about June/July as I was having a feeling of blockedness.Said couldn't see any infection at the time.

I had a letter which said on NHS waiting list and couldn't make appt, but if you don't hear anything by Oct 3rd to ring back. I did, but to be told I was still on waiting list and to ring back in a few weeks, as they were trying to put more clinics on.
I'm still waiting ??? I shall ring again next week.

My ear is muffled and when I burp it sounds like wind is bubbling through it!! Really weird.

Failing this I shall go private if the wait is too long, which I think is what they want you to do! So annoying.

Hi Julia

Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate you taking the time.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with ear issues too. They really do affect quality of life.

So you've been waiting since the Summer?.....I suspected as much.

I enquired about going private and it's £250 just to be seen at the hospital here in Lancashire. That's before any procedures or tests....
And I think...if it's hormonal which I suspect mine is......Will there be a satisfactory outcome after all the expenditure?

Soooo annoying...you're not wrong.

I wish you all the best. Be nice to hear how you're doing on this thread if you'd mind at all xxx

Just needed to vent coz I'm so sick of this plugged feeling deep down in my right ear and continuing pain. My ear hurts if I put my finger in it...and there's the continuous high pitch tinitus....interspersed with pulsitile tinitus...

Im just sick of it now....it bothers me 24/7......and been going on for over 5 weeks.

I just knew it was not going to be straightforward. Nothing ever is with me due to my rubbish health. Nothing is ever as simple as taking the prescribed meds and it all getting better again. I knew it would not. I said as much.

The initial agony has disapated since using Otomize drops......now is a pain that's not agony but hurts none the less and feel really plugged. Not in the outer ear but deep down.

Nurse kindly came back to my home to inspect last Friday and said ear drum is red and suspected middle ear infection....he didn't quite know what to suggest.....I was on antibiotics 3 weeks ago for something else and they didn't help my ear....so he said maybe more wouldn't help.....I dint want to carry in with Otomize. Not entirely happy with them long term use.....

He said see how I get on and maybe it will get better but I don't think it will. I'm convinced its hormonal and due to the drying up....its no coincidence. But I just get the roll eyes look when I mention it is due to that. They just want to give more drops or antibiotics or a referal to ENT where I bet you anything, hormones will not be taken into consideration.......that's after probably months of waiting for an appointment. Can't afford private.

I'm so weary  so sick of it. Having sore blocked ears really affects you.....I know there are worst things but it really does affect you.

I just haven't the stregth to get back intouch with the nurse or gp coz they just don't listen and it's that awful 8am race for an appointment....and I'm really worried this will not get better and I'll have this pain and plugged upness all the time now due to the drying up and hormone crap.

I've done all I can myself. Feel totally stuck. How does anyone treat problems going on behind an ear drum??! I can't remember what it's like to have normal feeling ears.

Spoke to my lovely gp as ear pain is so bad.

I'm being fast tracked to ENT.

That in itself will be a hurdle as having severe M.E and being bedbound, getting to necessary outside appointments is beyond hard and takes weeks to recover from.

However I am grateful that she has got me an urgent referral.

I don't know if it will prove helpful seeing as I suspect its all hormonal but I need to see them as I can't cope with the pain. It's not normal.

Got my ENT referal appointment next Tues.

Im hoping something will come of it. I'm sure you're all bored to tears with this thread.

Lots of pain in right ear still and an increase in tinitus, pain in face, jaw, plugged, pressure feeling. Left side pressure feeling.....

I'm sick of it.

Of course you are fed up. Especially as the finger-in-the-ear-wriggling doesn't help U.  MayB make a list to take to the appt..  Hopefully it's not too early which may compromise travelling etc..

My tinnitus is background most of the while.  My ears itch, deep down.  I need to find my drops!!

Thank you. You've been so kind to me. Thanks for putting up with me.

Appointment is 11.30am and partner and wheelchair at the ready! It's only a 20 min drive.

Good thinking re notes.

It's the constant pressure fullness feeling that is so uncomfortable and I have so many various of tinitus now, pulsitile, 2 tone hum, high pitch whistle, white noise sound which I cannot describe, wooshing......so noisy in there.....

Oh the itching is evil. I sympathise.

Who knew ears would be so bothersome in perimenopause. Boy did I underestimate all this.

It's often due to dryness.

I have different kinds of tinnitus including whooshing when laying down  ::)

Thanks

I absolutely agree and totally think/know this is all due to dryness.

It only started when all the mucus literally dried up in my nose, eyes got much drier, mouth got much drier and then all the ear problems/infection..

Hence I'm a bit scared this won't go away.
