Every Bleed…Cystitis/UTI
« on: October 10, 2023, 11:41:53 AM »

Hey ladies

Hope your all well 😄

…I’m sat with my feet up at my desk, office door locked, shovelling snacks in my trap like they’re going to run away…

So I’m getting my first little bleed after my first month on Evorel patches…

No drama I thought, went quite smoothly, even with the most ridiculous health anxiety in the world I was bathing in the joys of a nice month of relative calm since starting the patches…

Butttt….WHAM… not for long…every time I’ve got a period in peri, I get a cystitis feeling. I use the sachets. Comes straight back. After 3 days, go to the GP, they say “let’s test it”…test the sample, UTi positive so I take some antibiotics…and then go on my way…

But it’s every period. And I can cope with that because until I started the patches my periods were quite drawn out so it wasn’t so often.

Even if I do get the annoyance of it now I’m on the patches, if I know what it is I’m cool.

But I’m just worried that anywhere you read “regular utis” or any of that chat in my age bracket it’s starts throwin up panic attack vibes 🙄🙄🙄

I mean…I’m actually too tired to even think right now, so I’m not that anxious 😂 I’m pretty much laid down chillin like Bob Marley at my desk 🤣

But has anyone else experienced cystitis/uti’s with periods when they hit peri?

I did ask the gp if I should be investigated if they’re regular & they didn’t seem concerned:…

Unless a fresh urine sample is sent to a Lab for growing, it's not always the best way to test in the Surgery!

At the end of each bleed I would have 2 days without followed by a brown stain and itching high up.  Normal for me.  What U probably experience is vaginal atrophy because the whole area is dry.  Get thyself some appropriate treatment: usually 'vagifem' or 'ovestin' is prescribed: to be inserted into the vagina initially for 2-3 weeks every night, then as necessary.

Some manage symptoms using every 3rd and 5/6th nights.  Others use a mositorisor on the outer area every night to remain comfy, along with VA treatment.

Vaginal atrophy mimics repeated urine infection-type symptoms really really well  >:(

Let us know how you get on.  U don't need an exam or blood tests, simply ring your surgery and make the request.  If necessary see the Nurse Practitioner.

CKLD thank you so much 🙏 I’m all over that, will call the surgery in the morning  8)

I also think my surgery would like to personally thank you all 😂 my appointments have halved since I was able to talk to other humans going through this madness 🤯🙄😂

Seriously tho the power of being able to take away the isolation and talk to people who understand is huge for me 🙏 thank you 😊 x

Let us know how you get on. It shouldn't be a battle to get VA treatment, if you meet resistance then ask for a referral to a dedicated menopause clinic - both NHS and private clinics have waiting lists so it is sometimes worth getting on. a list: appt can be cancelled nearer the time of symptoms improve.

To help stop utis you could look at taking d-mannose, it's a supplement that helps stop them

There are also other products that help stop them, but not sure what they are off the top of my head.
