Hi ladies
Just wondered if anyone can give me any help if possible. So I had posted a thread previously about how I had UTI then thrush which took a wee while to go away. Hadn't been using vaginal estrogen (estriol 0.01 I use ) for a few weeks. I also have inflamed bladder/possible IC (had been on Elmiron but not really helping) I take amitriptyline too for pain but more recently it's been helping getting to sleep. I don't have pain when peeing but just feels sore down there constantly. So TBH I don't know if pain is from atrophy or bladder inflammation. I recently seen a private urogyn who said to start on daily 100mg Trimethroprim. I took it for first time on Fri + felt good on Sat but more or less in my bed since then. I started a probiotic on Thu (H + B 20 billion ) + wondered if that was affecting the antibiotic (I've been taking it couple of hrs B4 antibiotic) So I used the estrogen last night but never slept at all so feel pretty crap/sore today. Pain is like I've got something up there 🙈
Also we are due to have a short hol locally next Thu but at the moment don't think I could face it with the pain/discomfort. I started taking Nurofen yesterday (as know it's recommended by ladies on here) but I just don't know what to do to get some relief. Pretty sure it's not UTI or thrush. As I said just wondered if It could be down to atrophy ?
When I seen urogyn he examined me but said looked healthy down there (actually wanted me to reduce vaginal estrogen, well seeing he's not experienced VA)
I have appt with own gp on Fri but not sure what else they will do. Any help/suggestions out there would be SO appreciated 🙏

Can I also ask can the estriol cream stop working after a while ?
I did use vagifem before but felt it was very drying, but I know some of you ladies alternate what you use on different nights (I generally don't have any external probs)
I wondered about maybe vagifem a couple of nights but wondering if that's too much to throw into the mix. I can speak to Dr.
Also even though urogyn said everything down there looked healthy, can the atrophy still be causing me probs?
Yikes so many questions, again any help would be appreciated x

Sorry ladies, just tearing my hair out (although I would rather tear another part of my body out)

Can you use vagifem one night then estriol (I use the 0.01 old gynest)the next ? I used vagifem before but didn't stick with it as felt quite drying but wondered if it might help ? Also can you put a vagifem in during the day then the cream at night ?

I will try anything to make me feel better.

Nothing it a stupid question so please feel free to ask whatever you want to.

I think alternating between vagifem and estriol is worth a try. VA regime seems to be very individual and it helps to experiment to find which suits you.

I often use Ovestin in the daytime. I see no harm in using Vagifem in the day then the cream at night.

Yes, VA can still be causing you issues. VA is a total nightmare and it can take time to get it under control.

Have you had a browse of all the VA threads? It may help you to feel less alone. I am sorry you are in so much pain. It really is awful. I have never found any pain relief helpful for VA myself.

I've read loads of things on here. If I knew 100%it was the atrophy that was causing the probs. As I said urogyn said vagina looked healthy ? But could it still be atrophy ?
Before the UTis, thrush etc I was using estriol 0.01 +seemed to be working for me, that's why I don't know if putting vagifem in the mix would make things worse?
Any help/suggestions would be great x

Can I confirm that I insert vagifem internally during the day + also insert estriol internally at night or would that be too much + if ok how many days/nights can I do that for, thanks x

Everybody will have their own opinion on this. In my opinion I think that is fine and I would do it. I would personally try it until you work out if it is helping at all.

Thanks, am going to see if I can get emergency appt with GP I like tomorrow, I don't know whether I should 'risk' putting a vagifem up this afternoon or just wait to see GP🙈

If VA is internally then there will not be any signs as you would need to look inside the vagina. I have terrible internal pain due to VA. I cannot see how adding Vagifem will make it any worse. If you find it does not agree with you then you could just stop using it.

Sorry, I feel my replies are not helpful to you but do not worry as I am sure another member will post soon. :)

It isn't too much and once the symptoms settle U can review how to use both.  Some use 'vagifem' internally and 'ovestin' or a moisturiser around the outer labia if required.  Let us know how to get on.

What will you ask the GP - often they don't know much about treating VA  :-\. I would use as you feel 'right' for your vagina/vulva and make the appt for next week, which U can cancel if symptoms are better.

Do U have several threads on the same/similar topic  :-\

Use the VA treatment as you wish and you will find out for yourself what regime is working for you best. Don't be frightened of it, its all low dose and safe to use.  Vagifem is a hard, dry tablet, therefore a feminine moisturiser is essential in my opinion to use alongside it, I wouldn't be without mine in my regime.

Like CLKD mentions, I also don't know what a GP can advise you, you have been given all the best advice you will ever receive from this forum regarding Vaginal Atrophy. How you use the treatment is entirely up to you.

Urogyn examined me internally + said no thrush + vagina looked healthy. I'm just worrying in case it was thrush again but I don't have any discharge. I just don't know what to do for the best but just cos I have a wee hol next Thu 🤞want to be well

Thank you CLKD + Ayesha
Sorry yes sort of two threads apologies 🙈
I'm just worried in case I had thrush again but no discharge but just the burning/soreness.
I only have a few vagifem. As I said due to have hol next Thu so want to be feeling better. I know va + thrush have similar symptoms.
Does vagifem cause any discharge or anything ?
