Strioke and menapause

Hi my name is Sharon I had a stroke last year , made a good recovery but now going through menapause and my symptoms are awful gp won’t give hrt , i have been referred to gynea but a years wait now having to go private , surely the gel amd patches are safer and would be ok to have , any advise please 🌻

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am very sorry to hear you have had a stroke and you are also struggling to get HRT. Unfortunately, a gynae is not going to be as knowledgeable as a menopause specialist. An NHS menopause clinic is the best place to be referred to. As the wait is going to be a long time I wonder if it is possible for your GP to contact a menopause clinic to ask for advice about prescribing HRT for you. This would save you having to wait for the appointment.

Good advice from Flossieteacake, I was going to suggest contacting the Stroke Association too.

What excuse does your GP have for not prescribing HRT, who has he/she contacted with regards treatments?
