Unexpected bleeding after two years on hrt
« on: September 14, 2023, 09:22:03 AM »

Hello, newbie here!
I am 50 years old and have been on evoril sequi patches for 2 years. I started hrt as I believed I was going mad with symptoms that I'm sure you all know very well! My periods had stopped 6 months before I started hrt. I was told by my GP that these patches were a good fit for me. I didn't really want to start having a monthly bleed again but was told there was no option as I couldn't have any other hrt as my periods hadn't stopped for at least a year.
I have continued to have a bleed every 4 weeks when I start patch 6 to 7 of the 8 patch cycle. But just yesterday I started a heavy bleed on patch 1 of 8 when I'd only stopped bleeding a week ago from the last 'normal' bleed. Is this normal? I'm a bit worried.
Also, am I supposed to be on hrtr for ever? Don't fancy having periods for much longer!
Thanks everyone  :)

Some GPs are absolutely prescribing 'by the book'  ::) without taking individuals requirements into account, many GPs and Gynaes have no ideas about peri-menopause etc..

:welcomemm:  some regimes produce a bleed which can become a nuisance.  MayB your own hormones joined in = the expected heaviness of this current bleed.

Which symptom would you like to ease first.  U don't have to be on HRT for ever, though once a regime is sorted many decide to stick to it.

Hi - I suspect that you are probably peri menopausal. Once you are fully post menopausal then conti HRT patches would overcome the problem of regular bleeds. Some women do take HRT on a longer term basis but that's a personal decision.
