Tinnitus

Anyone had an onset of Tinnitus in peri that they never had before? Mine has been constant..sometimes it is quieter than others..sometimes only appears to be coming from one side, and others it seems to be hitting from both ears and also sound like inside back of head.
I've read about estrogen protecting the ears..so then everyone should be getting it unless they went on HRT?

Yep. We have several threads about this. When I had Covid last month I had a fork lift truck in reverse for 4-5 days, then the driver went on holiday. PHEW!
It's a ringing slightly outside my head somehow. I have had a recent hearing exam which is 'within normal limits for my age'. Ears syringed. Much better.

Yes tinnitus is one of my peri symptoms. I have a high pitched tone constantly and sometimes at night I get musical tinnitus. When it first started I got up throughout the night trying to find where the music was coming from, now I know it's me I try to just relax into it and ignore it. Not always easy though.

Yes, tinnitus has been a constant in peri until I had a blood test and the GP put me on iron tablets. I have no idea why it cured the tinnitus 😏

oh I might have to try iron tablets. I had tried magnesium and vitamin E but they don't seem to have done much.
Some of it seem to coincide with neck pain and when I resolved that issue I haven't had it from 'the back of the head' as frequently or loudly, but its still sounds like its 'in the ears'.
I know its supposed to be our brain creating it but it does sound like thats where its coming from and when its bad it also seems to make brain fog and memory worse.
I just miss the sound of silence when I want to rest! ..I have ME too and its making it worse as I constantly feel exhausted as never get a break from it!

Try listening to binaural beats on Youtube.

It works for me. It should give you instant peace and silence.
It is more effective if you listen to the sounds through earphones or buds.
Report back on how you get on.

When mine is really bad at night it sometimes keeps me awake. I find listening to the sound of rain helps. I went to all sorts of specialists and nobody linked it to the perimenopause but it seems like lots of women have it.

It's also associated with loud music damaging the air drums. At my hearing test earlier this year apparently I have hairy tubes
. Nope, I'm not getting the tweezers down there!
Sometimes mine pulsates on the pillow, I have to move my head several times to ease it.
