I’ve been on Evorel Conti for a year. After feeling dreadful with various symptoms of a hormonal imbalance (not diagnosed as such though as GP refused to do a hormonal blood test) . I’ve been post menopause for 26 years. Last year my GP did blood tests to rule out other possible causes and using my symptoms she prescribed HRT although I had to fight for it probably because of my age (65).
I started on a full patch but have been on a half patch twice a week for a year. There have been ongoing side effects such as wooziness/dizziness, blurred vision and dry eye, and sweating more and very tender breasts.
These side effects haven’t eased and in fact have got slightly worse.
On top of this I was diagnosed with osteoporosis earlier this year. Because of the risk of kidney damage (close family history of kidney cancer) I don’t want to take the recommended bisphosphonate medication. That’s why I’m trying to persevere with the HRT.
I’m thinking of reducing the dosage to a quarter of a patch twice a week.
if only to try and lessen the side effects.
I’m wondering if any one does just use the quarter patch regime.
Or is there another transdermal patch I could try? I still have my womb.

Also has anyone used the Blue Crest private health screening service?
I feel so anxious about even trying to get a GP appointment at the moment.

Sorry to hear about your ongoing symptoms. It may be that you are sensitive to continuous progestogen  even though you are only using half a patch. The one in that patch is called norethisterone, which is synthetic, so you could potentially try a different one? There is another patch called Femseven Conti which is changed once a week. As you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis it would be good if you could find a product that suited you and ideally at the 50 mcg dose, but initially why don't you ask for a different patch?

If that doesn't work then there is the option of having a separate patch and progestogen - there is a tablet progestogen called Provera which some women tolerate better, which could be used with a 25 mcg patch. If you went down this route and felt OK on that progestogen then you might be able to try increasing the patch dose slightly eg to 37.5 mcg....

Thank you so much Hurdity.
If the Femseven conti is only changed once a week it must be quite strong.
Although half a patch wouldn’t be as strong.
I will try and get a GP appointment.
I’m also wondering if me taking Vitamin D3 tablets and B12 mouth spray are contributing to how I’m feeling. Are they interfering with the HRT?
I was on 1000mg of vitamin C daily for my bones ( recommended by my orthopaedic surgeon) but I stopped as found that could be contributing to higher oestrogen.
