Utrogestan 200mg day 3
« on: July 18, 2023, 05:49:06 AM »

I'm on month one of HRT with one spray of lenzetto due to past experience of Endometrial hyperplasia (non atypia) now cleared. I'm on day 3 of 200mg vaginal utrogestan and this morning I'm back to the awful spaced out feeling I had when I tried Mirena. I'm also getting more aches and pains. Is this a too much progesterone thing? I don't have any issues sleeping anyway so can do without this when I need to drive 20 miles to work! I was trying HRT for joint pains which is my main symptom so getting more again isn't ideal. I'm not sure increasing lenzetto will be an option due to my past history. They were hesitant enough to prescribe this regime. Would halving the prog be an option? Thanks

Are you on sequi or conti? If on sequi according to newson but not the BMS or Besins you can halve it if used vaginally. As you have a endometriosis going off piste may be a bit risky.

It would be worth asking if you could reduce to 100mg utrogestan because your oestrogen dose is very low at only one spray. If you were on three sprays a day like I was offered then it's 200mg utrogestan to balance out that.
I didn't try it as I like Estradot50 well enough.

Then I asked if I could go from 200mg utrogestan to 100mg utrogestan if I take it vaginally.

They said I could do it vaginally on a temporary basis just until I get my scan, but it must be the full dose of 200mg.

As Sheila says lots of private doctors will say half it with vaginal use because the dose to where it's needed is higher when it's closer. It doesn't need to be digested.

The NHS doctors won't stick their necks out to tell us that because vaginal use of micronised progesterone hasn't been licensed for hrt use in the UK.
It is licensed to be used vaginally for fertility in the UK, or for HRT in France and other countries, but the particular license needed for us HRT patients in the UK to use utrogestan vaginally lapsed and there are no plans by the guys in Westminister to bring it back.

So I'm taking half the dose vaginally, it's all I can manage and my scan will tell us if that's enough, but don't tell anyone at the clinic ;)

Thank you that sounds incredibly sensible! They wont allow me any more oestrogen dud yo the past hyperplasia so it just feels like I'm overloading with progesterone. I'm.waiting for a call back and will update

Jorainbow,
Your symptoms sound a lot like mine on the Lenzetto   I had to come off it due to serious adverse effects.  Did you read the leaflet that comes with it.  The person who prescribed mine gave me no instructions at all ,so thank god I read the leaflet. I'm currently taking nothing at all for menopause but need blood work doing first.  This site may just save my marriage and min7 ;D

Thanks Mrs E. I've decided to come off both. The dr won't reduce the utrogestan and I feel better without either. Going to just give my body a break and then maybe book a private appt.

Jorainbow
Hi,hopefully something will get sorted. I've been without any HRT for 2 weeks now & it's been torture.  Sleep deprivation big time  The hot flushes are getting worse by the day. I am truly vile right now.  I need Sleep badly.  It's affecting other health conditions,.MS & Crohns.  I got weighed last week, feeling smug thinking I'd put on at least a stone.  Haha . If only  women really get a raw deal . There's so much stuff out there, it's hard knowing what is right for your body . Things take time to  settle down and say hi. At least that's what I keep telling myself
