Yoghurt for thrush
«

Has anyone used natural yoghurt to treat thrush? I was given canesten Combi but the pessary just came back out undissolved. I read about natural yoghurt and thought I’d give it a try.
Do you use it internally and externally? How often and for how long? Does it work? Or should I just get theCanesten Combi with the gel pessary?

Not sure it's recommended but I used it years ago when I seemed to be more prone to it. It worked, usually first time. I used it both internally and externally. Again, not sure it's recommended though.

If the pessary isn't working, you can get oral fluconazole from the pharmacy without a prescription. It's just one tablet.

That’s useful to know. I’ll call in tomorrow. Thanks.

LIVE yoghurt, eaten and applied. Keeping the pots separate - of course. Works for me every time. Several large spoonfuls every day plus application into the vagina at night, whilst laying on a large towel, relaxed with a book. Soothes as it works; about 3-5 days.
Natural and live aren't necessarily the same ;-).

Thanks for that. I’ll try that for a few days and see what happens.

There will be a certain amount of discharge from the yoghurt, what goes up etc.. Have U recently had a course of antibiotics?

No antibiotics. I just had the usual atrophy burning feeling but got a swab done at the doctors and they said it was thrush and gave me the canesten Combi. I don’t think I’ve had it since I was about twenty so not up on what’s best to treat it. I did find the canesten with cream rather than a pessary so I’ve actually used that. If I feel it starting again though, I’ll try the yoghurt. It just seems to take longer to work. A lot cheaper though!
Thanks for all the advice though.
