Too early for hayfever?
« on: April 12, 2023, 09:48:26 AM »

Hi all

my latest problem is that I seem to have hayfever symptoms.

And as some know I'm being treated now for a skin thing, possibly ringworm, using daktacort (broad spectrum antifungal).

Since using it my throat, nose and ears are itchy but it's supposed to take down allergy, it has a mild steroid in it.  And it's only being used on the skin.

I really can't be bothered to call the doctor and wait in a queue before 11am, it's been so hectic in the last ten days.  I think I'll just use the cream today and see how I am.

I imagine the cellulitis made me a bit more vulnerable to these things, not to mention being in bed for two weeks a short while ago, with warm winter PJ's on.  Perhaps that allowed this thing to develop, I'm not used to all this.  :(  sneezing a lot, but covid test negative.

It is not too early for hay fever. The pollen is very high right now and I am really feeling it. It may help to take an antihistamine.

The pollen count was very high around here over the Easter weekend, it's medium at the moment so I would say it's not too early for hay fever.

It's not too early. My daughter in law started her medication a few weeks ago. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/seasonal-advice/health-wellbeing/pollen/when-is-hayfever-season

Thanks Flossieteacake and Limpy

Well that's reassuring in a way, as I was worried I was having an allergic reaction to the daktacort.

Thanks Taz2

I posted before seeing your message.  That's reassuring, I just feel like I'm reacting to everything but if it's just the pollen I can ignore (as never usually too bad with me)

I have a similar coincidence with side effects of a blood pressure med causing a dry, tickly cough. It was getting better but along came tree pollen and my symptoms have started again.

Tree pollen is very high right now and I only started to suffer from hay fever in recent years, another symptom of the aging process.  >:(

If 1 knows that certain types of pollen cause allergic reactions, it's advised to use sprays etc. well B4 the flowers emerge.  Poplar trees make me wheeze a bit.  A few years ago I took locally made honey from 1st Jan., I had no problems that year.  Some say it's a myth  ::)

My allergic rhinitis is year round.  Worse when I become hot, i.e. walking into a cafe from cold air  >:(. Embarrassing  >:(

Hay-fever is all year-round, different plants let off different things at different times of the year. So depending on what you're allergic to it will happen at that particular time of the year.

I start around March time.

How's everyone's hay fever?  Mines awful affecting my throat making it very dry with a runny nose making me cough. They call it the pollen bomb that will last for weeks.
Went for a long walk around our local nature reserve today but will be staying indoors for the next few days hoping for some relief from it.

Mine is bad too and my partners is so bad his eyes are swollen. London really is a nightmare for hay fever. I hope staying home helps ease yours Ayesha.

As well as wild fires across US/Canada causing 'smog'-like conditions - how about going back to wearing masks or a little Vaseline under the nostrils?  A lot of my problem is caused by dust mites so regular hoovering of the bedroom carpet when symptoms are worse, would help in this house  :-\ ::)

I'm a floral photographer, gardener, live in London, and I swear my way of life is turning on me with my hay fever getting worse each year.
Do you think Amazon sell Hazmat suits  ;D ::)
