Symptoms coming back after a couple of years
« on: March 30, 2023, 11:21:53 AM »

Hello, I was was wondering if anybody has any advice for me. I'm 60 years old and started going through the menopause at around 52, I probably felt like many of you, tired, unreasonable, irritable, hot flushes etc, fortunately I began to feel better after a few years, unfortunately a couple of years later I had some very tough times to deal with, but about a year ago I felt I had weathered that storm until the last few months, when I once again began to feel completely overwhelmed by things. I appreciate the world is going through some strange times but I feel emotionally just as I did going through the menopause.
Is this something any one out there has experienced, is it something I can expect and if so can is there anything I can do to help myself?
Thank you so much.

Hello Harriet and a warm welcome to the forum.  I have read of many post meno women developing symptoms such as the ones you describe and then deciding to try HRT. Is HRT something that you would like to try? It can really help if anxiety is hormonal related.

I agree with the above. The ovaries still produce a little after meno, as do the adrenals and fat cells so it's likely you feel like this because your own production has declined. You could try a low dose and see if you feel better.
