Infection or Ovestin
« on: March 27, 2023, 05:10:26 PM »

I know you guys are not medical people but just wondering of people's experiences as it might help me know what could be going on.

I've just woke up, I went to lie down as I was really tired.  I'm not at work today.  I've just got over a skin infection nearly 4 weeks ago.  On Friday the skin looked red and I called the doctor.  She has written antibiotics for me but didn't think I needed them and said if it were her, she wouldn't take them unless she felt unwell or unless the redness was much deeper (I know the signs).  She said if anything develops it would be in 24 hours, well that was Friday evening.

I've been fine all weekend and the redness went down.

Today I woke up fine, a bit stressed as I had to cancel some work that would involve a lot of walking about (this is on my foot), but it was fine.

So suddenly I had no energy (that's not unusual) and I went to lie down thinking that my foot could do with the rest anyway.  When I woke up I felt a bit off, and a few minutes ago I broke out in a sweat and went really hot.  I also felt weak like I had flu.  In 5 minutes that calmed down.  My temperature is normal, although I thought it would be high.

So now I'm wondering if it was the extra glob of ovestin I tried out last night, and was that a hot flush?  I had a hot flush after trying it the first time but that was pretty instant.  Could it have led me to feel a bit wobbly and anxious?

I'm feeling less off now, a bit of a quivery feeling in the legs, and I'm monitoring my temperature as if it's high I'll have to take the antibiotics regardless.  I don't want to if I don't have to.  This would all happen when the doctor's is closed.

There's a glitch in the system, copying threads several times  >:( I did report to Emma

How is your diet overall?  I found mid-afternoon that I had a lack of energy so ate a banana which helped.  Low blood sugar can cause similar symptoms to those that you describe.

Thanks Jaypo, I've run out of tests.

I get very anxious about these things especially as some people who've had cellulitis told me they went into sepsis before their skin even showed any problems  :(

Normally with a temperature spike like this I would just sit down, drink plenty and expect to fight whatever it is off, but because of the recent illness I'm really anxious.

I need to know what the normal response to this is again because I've lost it  ;D  I know people can only give opinions and not medical advice but at the moment would you watch and wait, or be calling 111 with a view to taking the antibiotics.  It's the last thing I want to do it will make me more anxious, I don't want this illness back.  But I don't want to not look after myself either.  The problem with talking to people on the internet (not here) about illness is that you do tend to hear from those who've had the worst case scenarios and it makes it all the more scary.

Thanks CLKD, I'll try and eat something in a while.  My stomach seems to be the thing that's upset (mildly), not my foot or leg.  I have eaten today though, so I don't think it's low blood sugar but I will keep it in mind.  :)

I would not take ABs unless absolutely necessary because the World is too reliant on them.  Eventually they won't work for anything.  :'(

Your symptoms are like what I get when my body requires feeding.  If your body became hot as you woke up, which often happens to me, then you may well have those symptoms as BP alters.

Eat Girl, Eat - a dry biscuit to layer the stomach then wait - then a banana which is slow release.

I'm kind of ok now, if I hadn't had cellulitis I would have dismissed what happened as a mild bug.  But my temperature is still 36.8, which is normal, but because I'm hypothyroid I'm used to it being 36.5.  I know I'm being pretty anxious here but it never goes up unless I'm ill (but of course normally it's not anything serious)

I'm going to have a slow walk to the shop as I want something sugary in tonight

 ;D

I've now got a cough, so Jaypo might be right, plus my guts are seriously active, I can hear all sorts of noises coming from my stomach.

So hopefully nothing to do with the foot or leg.
