Mirena side effects
« on: March 22, 2023, 01:07:03 PM »

Well I wish I'd not bothered. Mood plummeted, constantly want to cry and that's only Day 2. And to top it off because the menopause consultant wrote to my Dr saying I had pre cancerous cells (which I don't they were not atypical.and after the second biopsy, had downgraded to not hyperplasia at all), they won't prescribe oestrogen for at least a month and then they want to write to him to get it confirmedbwfore they will consider it. I'm almost beyond with the whole thing.

Oh no! I am so sorry you have all this going on. It is possible your mood will lift again if your body gets used to the Mirena but I can understand if you feel you cannot wait.

I cannot understand why the meno Dr told your GP you have pre cancerous cells when you do not. It sounds like a mix up maybe. Is it possible to contact the meno Dr and get them to write to your own GP to tell them they have made a mistake and it is okay for you to have oestrogen? It is not fair you cannot take oestrogen due to a mistake from the meno Dr.

Hi Flossie. I've left a message on the secretary's line today so waiting for a call back. I'm in work simply looking at my screen wondering what I'm doing my brain is that foggy.   Certainly can't put up with going from function to not. I was driving to work this morning and felt completely spaced out. Awful.

I was really tearful the first week I had my second Mirena, fortunately only lasted about 8 days.  It timed in lovely with my teen daughter's period. My husband came back from shop one evening with chocolate treats for us all!

I think the thing that's upset me more is I only agreed to have it as part of HRT and to be told it wouldn't be that easy blew my mind.

The mirena does take a while to settle down. It also needs to be balanced with the right oestrogen dose. Once that’s up and running, it should be fine.

I think I read somewhere that the first few days or weeks, more progestin is released, before it settles down to a slow steady dose.

Hang on in there, but if you can’t stand it, insist it comes out.

Thanks Nas. They are refusing to prescribe oestrogen. I have the consultants secretary calling me tomorrow because of the mess up in his letter. I've got an appointment to remove it in a week which I had to insist on. If it settles in that time and they agree to prescribe the oestrogen then I might persist otherwise its out. I just burst into tears in Tesco because I felt so spaced out and in pain again. Poor chap didn't know where to put himself!

Oh Joranibow, . I am so sorry you are feeling so low. It does sound like it is too much to deal with the side effects. Can you wait a week for it to be removed? Pity they could not see you quicker as it is causing you to feel so low.

They absolutely refuse Flossie. Wanted me to stick it out. I was told by the Consultant prior to the fitting it would be simple but they only have clinics so often. Trying to relax after tea but worrying what tomorrow might bring already. I might ask the Secretary if they can get me in quicker tomorrow.

I am sorry they are not taking you seriously. If you cannot wait then I think sexual health clinics will take out coils. It is terrible the meno Dr wrote the wrong thing on your records and it is taking time to fix this.

Oh this isn’t good, the refusal to prescribe oestrogen, why is that? The mirena and oestrogen can work really well together, but only if you can tolerate the coil.

It does take a while for the body to accept the coil and it’s whether you can persevere with the knowledge that you can have oestrogen.

Sending positive vibes that you are in a better place soon. X

My meno consultant incorrectly wrote I have pre cancerous cells in a letter to my GP so until that's corrected they won't do anything. Even though he suggested mirena plus low dose oestrogen latervin the letter. I'd rather have nothing and go back to managing naturally right now but I am wavering between tears and anger at the moment so I think sleep might ve the best option. I've dosed up on painkillers as the pain is pretty intense.

Slept til 4am when I woke with the awful knot of early morning anxiety and nausea. Still in a lot of womb pain with added back pain and heavier bleeding. Got my legs caught in my knickers getting dressed this morning which would normally have me giggling. Que irrational anger outburst.  Hhm.

So sorry you had such a bad night. I hope you can find a sexual health clinic that can remove the coil. You may be able to stress how urgent this is to your GP and get an appointment today. This is so unfair for you.
