Patch from abdomen to hip?
« on: March 20, 2023, 01:32:37 PM »

Ive been wearing my evorel patch on my lower abdomen under my knicker line, it seems to work there regarding symptoms but I find it annoying - I have a fair bit of fat there and it creases etc and I notice it all the time. So I’ve put the last one on my hip, under my knicker line. I much prefer it there in terms of comfort - I don’t even notice its on when its there. But I feel like my symptoms / general wellness are worse when I put the patch on the hip compared to the abdomen. This is the 2nd time I tried this and the first time after a day I removed it and put a new one on my abdomen again. I’m trying to hold out doing that again today. Could it be that just from the front tummy area to the hip changes how it’s absorbed so much that I can feel a difference? Xx

I have heard it can be helpful to put patches on a more fatty area. Perhaps it would work on your lower back? That is where I put mine.

Thanks Flossieteacake, I have more fat on my abdomen than my hip so maybe it's absorbing better on my abdomen for that reason. Although theres still a fair amount of fat on my hip too! I have an electric blanket that I lay on so I'm reluctant to put in on my bum or lower back as it'll get too hot there. Maybe I should just go back to the abdomen today and see if it relieves how I'm feeling and if so then accept the annoyance. Or try for a bit longer on my hip in case my body gets used to it there? Maybe indecisiveness is a symptom too!

Oh I see, yes if you lie in an electric blanket then it would not work being on your lower back. Hopefully you can get used to it on your abdomen. Perhaps play around a bit such as putting it a bit lower or to the side and hopefully it will not be annoying for you.

Thanks again, yes I'm going change it and put a new one on my abdomen today, and at least then I'll know if its relieves my symptoms xx

Can I ask if any of you that put the patch on your abdomen noticed any pain when you first wore it there?
I usually put my patches on my hip but I thought I’d try it for once on my lower abdomen but pretty quickly I started getting stomach cramps

Hi Law, maybe someone else will have experienced this but that’s not happened with me. Xx

I think this is the case with me too Limpy, I’m sticking with the abdomen for now and will try the hip again in the future when I feel more stable generally.
