Perhaps I've confused matters assuming skkb meant she starts the gunky prep on the 17th.

I hope I got that bit wrong as its a huge poo-nami experience :o

My instructions were no food after 12pm the day before the procedure. The first of the prep is then taken and within 2 hours you're heading to the loo.
This has been my experience recently unless things have changed.

These are the usual guidelineshttps://www.nhs.uk/conditions/colonoscopy/getting-ready/

Sorry I wasn’t very clear was I. On the 17th it’s the diet that begins, bland (beige) food which I should be able to get on holiday. 18th travelling home, 15 hour flight, so maybe just bread and cheese but I can have a wine, doubt I’ll feel like eating much anyway…..on the 19th I’m home so I can sort that but will hopefully be sleeping…..after 3pm on the 19th no more food, first prep sachet/drink at 6pm, second prep drink 6am on the 20th which is the day I have the colonoscopy at 2.30pm. Then hopefully home to sleep a while 😴

Hello skkb.

I'm sorry that you are having this trouble and you have my sympathy. I have been there so I know how it feels.

I just wanted to add that at both my Colonoscopies I was able to see everything on the screen which was very reassuring when everything was normal. Obviously the hospital will  send the results to your doctor and copy them to you but you will learn a lot on the day so the wait will be over.

Wishing you well and let us know how it all goes.

Good luck and take care.

K.

Hi I've just joined but read your post a few days before when I was still lurking and wanted to offer you some reassurance.
I had a positive fit test last year, went to gp with lower left abdo pain and constipation and he didn't expect it to come back positive but it did. I was told my number and I extensively googled it and, despite it being low, was absolutely convinced, because I had symptoms (despite never seeing blood in my poo) that it was something sinister. Turns out it was polyps, one of which was bleeding slightly. Wasnt even on the same side as the pain so go figure. I was told by the surgeon before the colonoscopy that there (despite symptoms) was only a 1-2% chance of it being anything bad. My fit test result wasn't high, but the surgeon said that even if it had been, high tests are still more likely to be caused by an inflammatory bowel condition than anything sinister. I'm due another surveillance one this year and decided not to even get the fit results beforehand. Everything I'd thought beforehand turned out to be wrong! There are SO many other benign reasons for positive fit tests that the vast majority of people who get sent via 2WW for colonpscopy are likely to come back fine, yours included. Good luck and I hope you are enjoying your holiday xx

So I had the colonoscopy yesterday afternoon and happily got an all clear result….huge relief after 6 weeks of worry. No polyps or signs of cancer, only the diverticulosis which I was told about last November, which I think she said was a little inflamed and could have caused a slight bleed which was picked up by the FIT test.

I did cry as the relief was massive as others I’m sure will appreciate. Wishing everyone out there awaiting results get an  an equally joyous result. Best wishes.
