New and Clueless
« on: March 14, 2023, 08:00:58 PM »

Hi, I’m trying to read as much as I can and learn because I don’t know enough to even ask sensible questions. A year ago when I attended a gynaecologist office to undergo a bunch of tests due to worries about the severity of my pain and bleeding during my periods, she confirmed that I was displaying a few symptoms of being peri menopausal… I occasionally have night sweats… maybe once a week or so… some hair loss, but not significant … and just this cycle I bled for 3 weeks before it finally stopped. The tests were thorough and thankfully all negative (including 2 biopsies) … I’m here to understand what the heck is going on with my body, lol… I’m 53 … I’m really hoping to gain some wisdom on here to help me get through this process

 :welcomemm:

Browse round.  Make notes ;-)

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use to chart progress.  As oestrogen levels drop the skin may become dry: inside and out; skin, scalp, between the toes, deep in the ears, nostrils, eyes, vagina ......... as well as muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

Have you bled since?  My periods waxed and waned for several years ....... then stopped.  We are advised to count 12 months b4 considering menopause [literally the last period] but Mother Nature sometimes throws in a curved ball with a bleed  ::).  Then we count from month 1!  Sometimes a few times.

We talk about everything: pets, hobbies, cycling ..... even menopause.   ;)

Hiya,
I have never had a better welcome than on this forum.

Honestly, always someone with some advice or empathy or just a hello when we need it most. I think a fair few on here are also just  trying to make sense of it all... I can say I was so ignorant of what peri\memo involved. And seem to be learning more about myself every day with great support from being  part of this forum

You are going to be soooo glad you logged in. Invaluable in every way. And for every  subject...seriously. Every subject!

As so many have said, ask away

Hold the phone... this occasional ringing and humming in my ears could be related to being peri menopausal? Wow.

I was blaming it on general aging and the fact that I love my music thumping loud, dancing, concerts and earphones.

I mean, it could be those things as well, but menopause wasn't on my list of suspects... until now.

I have been going through some issues lately and found the search facility on here so helpful, and very educational.
Any problems just do a search and you will find you are not alone, someone is going through or has been through the same!
