Provera for prolonged period
« on: March 15, 2023, 03:00:03 PM »

Hello ladies  :)

I have had a long light period for the last 2.5 weeks (after a 40 day gap of no period).

Today my GP said to try Provera for 5 days to see if it will stop the bleeding

Have any of you used it for this reason and if so how did you get on?

Anyone any advice please?

Is it too soon to try and stop it, or just let it do its thing?

Taz2 has given me some excellent advice but would be good to hear other opinions too?

I've found this thread by searching the forum.https://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,45845.0.html#msg739737 This member was prescribed it for the same reason but it didn't actually stop it. She left the forum before posting what happened in the end!  :-\

Thanks again Taz. It’s hard to know what to do. I don’t want to take them and cause myself further issues not necessary, so might just let it do its thing.

I’ve another appointment with my GP at the end of April. She said to go back then and see how things are but she feels it’s all just Peri, plus stress of elderly unwell parents and also moving house soon.

So may just let it do what it needs to do and hope it eventually stops?? I’m so confused right now 🫤

My husband is a paramedic and convinced it’s all because I’ve had a 40 day gap and it’s now just coming out here and there at random and will take longer to finish, how ever long that will take

Thanks for your support with this Taz. I really do appreciate it xx
