Hrt & cyst, waiting for gynae appt
« on: March 09, 2023, 06:14:17 PM »

Hi, I was taking evorel conti for 6 months last year and all my symptoms improved. I felt like me again, it was brilliant. Then i had phlebitis and whilst at the docs I mentioned that I was bleeding. She immediately took me off the evorel & sent me for a scan. Result was that I had a small cyst in my womb lining, discussed with doc & she said I could have Mirena coil fitted & estrogen patches but wants me to see a gynae first. I have just found out that I am very unlikely to get a gynae appointment for a year, they have such a huge backlog & won’t even let me make an appointment until June.  I’ve got another doc appointment at the end of the month & really want to go back on the hrt as I’ve got bad anxiety, not sleeping etc. Has anyone got any idea what I can say to the doctor to persuade her.

Hmmm I have just been referred for a (non urgent) scan due to 10 day periods, spotting and enlarged uterus on examination and my GP hasn’t even mentioned me stopping HRT!

However the GP prescribes and it’s their responsibility….you may not be able to change their mind.

Could you ask them to (as well as referral) ring the gynaecology clinic and ask the question of whether you are allowed to continue HRT while waiting?

The clinic may be able to answer straight away if it’s a straightforward situation etc.

Will the cyst need treatment do you know? I’ve never heard of such a thing. Perhaps it depends on whether it will “feed” off oestrogen. Your GP may be able to ask the question though.

Good luck with your scan, the nurse who did mine was lovely and put me at ease.
My cyst is so small that it doesn’t need any treatment. Just trying to compile a list of questions to ask at my gp appointment, things to say etc and wondered if anyone had had a similar experience

If you don't get anywhere with your gp it might be worth an email to Dr Currie who runs this site if they will follow her advice. £30 but a lot quicker than waiting for the nhs. If they're not going to treat it I can't see how they can refuse hrt for evermore - but I'm not an expert.
