Hi
Does anyone know if a high dose vitamin D injection can affect your estrogen levels please?
I had one on Friday and have had the shakes and a massive mood dip all over the weekend and today a little.
I was starting to feel a bit better as my estrogen levels have gone from 145 to 800 but since this injection I feel back to square one. 
I've had a B12 injection the week before also as I'm struggling with tiredness and just want to feel me again. 
I had a blip when I had a covid jab in 2021 so not having them anymore.
Am I going mad or is it possible some meds/vitamins affect estrogen.   Thanks

Vitamin D is more of a hormone than a vitamin, it controls the production and activity of estrogen and progesterone to keep these hormones balanced . This vitamin also helps in regulating insulin and blood sugar level.  Vitimin D deficiency effects estrogen so hopefully you should start to feel better, maybe such a high dose has caused a slight imbalance and it will settle again.
I realised years ago my atrophy was always better when I was on holiday in the sun and getting Vit D.

It's amazing how much stuff interacts with our hormones that we don't realise. It sounds like this should be temporary for you though xxx

Thank you so much for your input.  It seems it doesn't take much to knock my balance out.
Its taken me 5 years and a hysterectomy to get my hrt right.
The trial and error of hrt goes from month to month and ends up years later.  Just try this, just try that.  Lost years.
So very tired of it all.

Hi Sandie, was the injection a one off? Maybe in future you would be better off just taking a regular small dose of vitamin d. I have had a hysterectomy too and I notice that little things can easily upset our balance, I guess for me it's because I have no ovaries. You will know that we don't need to take progesterone but I have caved in and started adding utrogestan a month ago. Although early days I do feel more balanced and my sleep is so much better. The first few days were a bit bumpy but now I think and hope I have found the missing link.

Sandie I empathise with your statement so much... lost years. I grieve for the days/weeks/years and occasions with my family, friends, niece that I've lost due to my hormones. It also doesn't take much to knock my balance out either, and I'm so envious of those who sail through menopause.

It does seem like the high strength vitamin D injection could have thrown you off, but the positive take from that is that once it wears off, things should improve again. And in the meantime it's highly likely that the lower Estrogen is making you feel woeful. I know that knowing that logically doesn't help with how you feel though. Just know that you're not alone and the forum is here if you need support!

Hello ladies.

Sandie64 - Vitamin D levels certainly affects our emotions and also interacts with other hormones. Hopefully things will settle down as your body adjusts to the injection.

I read recently that vitamin D deficiency can cause, among other things, brain fog, poor sleep, anxiety, mood changes, muscle aches and pains, depression and fatigue. Sound familiar ladies?!  Perhaps we should all have our Vitamin D levels checked as well our Oestrogen when talking the menopause.
