Free androgen index FAI levels
« on: February 21, 2023, 07:21:40 PM »

My FAI levels are 14.5% and I’ve been told this is too high. Does anyone know what the correct levels are?

Looking online it seems a level of up to 9% is normal in women. It looks quite complicated to work out different reasons for a higher level though.

Thank you. I am taking tostran (one pump every other night) and have been told to stop taking it. I really like the benefits of testosterone so I don’t want to stop completely.I’m just wondering how far I need to reduce it to get my levels at the right amount.
Do you know what high FAI does to your body? Is it dangerous?

I think it can be linked to diabetes among other things but it's difficult to find clear information. I did find this which is from 2009 so might not now be relevant but gives good explanation of androgens https://www.healthywomen.org/your-health/androgen.

My FAI shot up from 0.23 (before Tostran) to 3.51 after starting it. I've dropped down to 2 pumps a week. I think they like it to ideally be under 5. Haven't had a blood test since August so I'm probably due another one to check levels.
